Smith entered late in the second half for Eli Manning and played much of the second half. The fifth-year quarterback was 11/17 for 79 yards and an interception. Smith was played fine, throwing the ball accurately and making good decisions, but he threw a bad interception inside the ten when he was pressured. Still, it looks like Smith is going to be the backup for the Giants this season, as Josh Johnson threw only four passes in the exhibition against Cleveland.

David Njoku leaves with foot/ankle injury in the fourth quarter of preseason game.
Njoku got rolled up on by a teammate and was down for a moment before helped off the field. It didn’t have the looks of a serious injury, but we’ll provide an update when it’s available. What may be more concerning is that Njoku was in there late in the fourth quarter, but the first-round pick isn’t expected to be an early-season fantasy contributor anyway.

Brandon Marshall gets x-ray on his shoulder.
The Giants are having a rough night, as Odell Beckham Jr. got an x-ray on his ankle earlier. Thankfully OBJ appears to be fine, so hopefully Marshall is too. Marshall had one reception for two yards before leaving the Week 2 preseason game against Cleveland.

Giants first-team offense struggles to do much in exhibition against the Browns.
Eli Manning was 10/14 for 80 yards in the team’s second preseason game of the year. He and the offense didn’t look too sharp, and Manning threw a near interception in Browns’ territory. Eli played for nearly the entire first half and the team only scored three points. The Giants have yet to score a touchdown through six quarters this preseason. The bigger concern might be the status of Odell Beckham Jr., who left the game with an ankle injury. The Giants face the Jets in the important third preseason game on Saturday.

Giants announce OBJ suffered an ankle sprain.
Beckham Jr. took a hit at the knee and headed to the locker room before falling down in the tunnel. Thankfully, he’s thought to only have an ankle sprain. OBJ himself probably made this look a little more serious than it was, but perhaps he’s upset and shaken because it was close to being a serious injury. If it’s a high ankle sprain, it could be an issue for Beckham’s Week 1 status, but we anticipate him being good to go.

Odell Beckham Jr. leaves preseason game after taking a low hit.
OBJ took a hit at his lower leg in the second quarter of the Giants’ second preseason game. He initially got up and was frustrated but seemed fine, before some pain might’ve set in and he started limping. Beckham then worked his way to the tunnel towards the locker room, where the camera caught him go to his knees in the tunnel. OBJ’s knee did look to buckle a bit when he was hit, so this could be a potentially serious injury. Hopefully he just got a little scared and/or dramatic and ends up being fine, though.

Isaiah Crowell is not playing in tonight’s preseason game against Giants.
Crowell is dealing with a groin injury, but it’s probably not too serious as he was not known to have missed any practice. The Browns are probably just being cautious with their starting running back. We’ll see if he can get out there on Saturday for the third preseason game.
