The second-year back from Washington had six carries for 34 yards, including a long of 18 yards. Lions running backs coach David Walker talked up Washington’s progress recently. He’s battling for carries behind starter Ameer Abdullah.

Chris Carson plays with first team in Seahawks’ second preseason game.
With Thomas Rawls and C.J. Prosise out, Eddie Lacy and Carson worked with Russell Wilson and the starters. Carson had six carries for 27 yards and a 17-yard reception. The seventh-round pick is a lock to make the team, and now it’s just a matter of how much playing time he gets as a rookie. Carson certainly looks the part out there as a big, all-around running back. He might end up having re-draft value this season, and he’s definitely someone to watch in dynasty leagues. Hopefully all the backs are healthy in Seattle’s third preseason game on Thursday so we can get more of an idea of how the backfield will be split.

Rookie Brad Kaaya looks sharp in first preseason game.
The rookie quarterback out of Miami entered the game for the Lions after Matthew Stafford and Jake Rudock. He went 8/11 for 71 yards and a touchdown. Kaaya probably won’t challenge for the backup role in Detroit as a rookie, but he’ll develop and keep getting better. He’s not worth a spot in dynasty leagues, but he’s someone to watch.

Mike Davis scores in preseason game against the Vikings.
David had a 38-yard carry (six carries for 37 yards total) and a 22-yard touchdown reception. The touchdown came from Russell Wilson late in the first half. Still, Davis might have a tough time making Seattle’s final roster with the team having such a deep backfield.

Second-year quarterback Jake Rudock plays very well in Lions preseason opener.
Rudock entered the game after Matthew Stafford played a series, going 13/21 for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Both touchdowns were to impressive third-round rookie Kenny Golladay in the end zone. Rudock also had two carries for 24 yards. Rookie quarterback Brad Kaaya also played well, but the more experience Rudock will be Stafford’s backup this season.

Alex Collins leads Seattle in rushing in Week 2 of the preseason.
The second-year Seahawks running back had ten carries for 58 yards, including a long of 19 yards. Collins also added four receptions (on four targets) for 35 yards, but he lost a fumble. Ignoring the fumble, it was a very good performance for Collins, who appears to be the fifth back in Seattle’s backfield after rookie Chris Carson worked with the starters in the game. The Seahawks might need to keep five running backs for Collins to make the final roster.

Matthew Stafford plays one series in preseason opener.
He went 2/3 for 36 yards and an interception. His best play was a 22-yard completion where he navigated and stepped up in the pocket before delivering a pass to T.J. Jones down the field. The interception came on a slant route he threw to a tightly-covered Marvin Jones. Stafford will almost certainly get more work in Week 2 of the preseason this Saturday against the Jets.
