Join now >Jamaal Charles will play in the Broncos’ third preseason game.
He won’t play this Saturday in the team’s second preseason game against the 49ers, but he’ll play in the “dress rehearsal” game on Saturday, August 26. It’ll be Charles’ first game action since October of last year, and the 30-year-old back will likely be looking to prove he still has it. The Broncos have done a good job of limiting Charles through the preseason with hopes of having him 100% and ready to contribute during the regular season. As of now, Charles looks like he could be a FLEX contributor in fantasy leagues, but perhaps we’ll see more of how he’s used when he hits the field.

Cross caught two passes for 30 yards in Tampa Bay’s preseason opener.
The starting fullback probably won’t reach those numbers in the regular season, as he never had more than one catch or 10 yards in 2016, though he did catch a three-yard score. You can obviously ignore him for fantasy purposes, but he will lead the way for Bucs runners in 2017.

David Johnson switched to a plant-based diet, according to ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss.
Johnson and his wife, Meghan, switched their diet based off a couple of Netflix documentaries along with some of their own research. The Cardinals star running back is at a lower weight (he reported to training camp at 223 pounds), and he says he has more energy, thanks to the diet. To avoid getting too light, Johnson didn’t completely cut meat out of his diet while making sure to eat smaller portions of it. DJ, who also took up yoga during the offseason, did look slimmer and quicker in his first preseason action last Saturday night against the Raiders. If he stays healthy, Johnson is going to have a monster season; he has a real chance at both 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards rushing.

Spencer Ware caps opening preseason drive with a score for the Chiefs.
Kansas City’s offense went right down the field on the Niners, and Ware worked as the clear starter. He had four carries for six yards and three receptions for 20 yards, while punching it in from one-yard for a touchdown. Third-round rookie Kareem Hunt could take some work, but it looks like Ware is a good bet to at least open the season as the Chiefs starter at running back. His situation is one to keep an eye on in the second and third weeks of the preseason.

Breshad Perriman is still out with a hamstring injury.
Perriman has missed about two weeks of practice with what they are calling a “hamstring pull.” Head coach John Harbaugh said his third-year receiver is “on schedule” and would not rule him out for the preseason. Perriman was seen as a potential big-time breakout player this season, but it’s unfortunate to see him dealing with injuries and unable to be on the field. Hamstring injuries are typically preventable, so hopefully Perriman starts hydrating and taking preventive steps to help him get past sustaining these type of injuries. Jeremy Maclin and Mike Wallace are the clear top two receivers in Baltimore right now.

C.J. Spiller plays late into preseason game with the Chiefs.
Spiller had two carries for nine yards and one reception for two yards. He was in the game in the fourth quarter, which is probably bad news for him making the final roster, though the Chiefs have talked about how Spiller still has his speed. With Spencer Ware and Kareem Hunt as roster locks, it might come down to Spiller or Charcandrick West for the third running back spot in Kansas City.

Joch Doctson participated in individual drills in Redskins practice.
Like his teammate Jamison Crowder, Doctson was dealing with a hamstring issue. Doctson was only a limited participant in practice yesterday, but he should be a full participant soon. Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said he isn’t sure if Doctson will play in the second preseason game this Saturday against Green Bay.
