Devonta Freeman opens Falcons’ preseason with a touchdown.

The newly-paid running back had one carry for three yards and a 15-yard touchdown reception. The touchdown came on a play-action fake from Freeman, who continued out of the backfield into the flat where Matt Ryan hit him so he could basically walk into the end zone. It was just the preseason, but the Falcons offense is going to be lethal again, and Freeman should remain a big part of that.

The third-year back had 11 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown, along with three receptions for 16 yards. He’s a key member of the Falcons and locked in as the third back behind Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman, but he’s unlikely to provide fantasy value in 2017.

2016 MVP Matt Ryan leads prompt scoring drive in opening preseason game.

Matty Ice was 3/3 for 32 yards and a touchdown to Devonta Freeman before exiting the game. The play-action game was working, just as it did all of last season. Ryan should definitely be among the top options at the position for a second straight season.

Payton catches game-winning touchdown in preseason opener.

The second-year receiver was the receiving end of a 45-yard score from DeShone Kizer to give Cleveland a 20-13 win against the Saints. It was his only catch of the game, but it was a big one, and he gained a lot of separation at the start of the play to get open deep. Payton was a fifth-round pick last year, but his roster spot isn’t guaranteed.

Randall Cobb plays in Green Bay preseason opener.

The veteran receiver had a one-yard catch in limited action. Cobb is locked in as one of Aaron Rodgers’ top three receivers this season and does have some solid upside.

Second-year receiver Geronimo Allison catches one pass in preseason opener.

The reception for the Packers receiver went for ten yards. Despite his one-game suspension, Allison should have a role this season starting in Week 2.

Marty B catches one pass in preseason opener with Green Bay.

He caught a slant route for 13 yards. Bennett did look pretty bad on a play where it looked like he didn’t even try to block a guy, but maybe it was a missed assignment or he was confused—he’s normally a good blocker. Bennett has upside later in fantasy drafts as a tight end for Aaron Rodgers.
