The statement from Estrella Cerqueira, Landry’s girlfriend that he has a daughter with, reads: “In March of 2017 the father of my child and I had a vocal disagreement that resulted in someone calling 911. I, myself did not call the police. When the police arrived they determined that there was no cause for any arrests nor was there any concern for my physical well-being. There were no arrests made, there were no criminal charges, I was not in any way physically harmed. Yes, we are going through a civil family court case and emotions are high, but I would like to make it very clear that Jarvis would never, ever do anything to harm me or anyone else. Jarvis and I are happily raising our beautiful daughter and I would like to make a plea to the media that they refrain from spreading this completely false story.” That should be the end of this as a story, and Landry should be able to just focus on football.

Josh Doctson has a hamstring injury.
The second-year receiver is currently being evaluated for the injury. Doctson dealt with Achilles issues that forced him to miss almost his entire rookie season, so hopefully this is just a slight hamstring pull that doesn’t keep him out for long.

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn isn’t sure if Julio Jones will play in the preseason.
The superstar receiver participated in full 11-on-11 drills today for the first time in training camp. Jones was only doing individual drills, but his conditioning is to the point where they wanted him in 11-on-11 action. Dan Quinn said they haven’t decided if Jones will play in the preseason, but if he does it probably won’t be for long. Either way, Julio is locked in as a first round pick in all fantasy drafts, and a case can be made for him as the number one receiver.

Markus Wheaton will miss two weeks with his appendectomy.
The Bears receiver, who had his appendectomy on Sunday, told this to NFL Network’s Stacey Dales. In a deep receiving group, others will have more opportunities to show what they can do while Wheaton is out. Without a clear number one receiver, this might also give Kevin White or Cameron Meredith more of a chance to emerge as the team’s number one. Wheaton probably won’t be ready for Week 2 of the preseason, but he should be good to go for the team’s third preseason game.

Paxton Lynch will start the Broncos’ second preseason game.
Head coach Vance Joseph announced Trevor Siemian will start the first game, with Lynch starting the second. This probably means the battle won’t be decided for a couple weeks, but things can change if one of them distances themselves in the first game and practice. Ideally, the starter will be named before the third preseason game so that quarterback can get a lot of time in the dress-rehersal preseason game.

According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, Ryan Tannehill does have ACL damage again.
Like at the end of last year, Tannehill has a partially torn ACL in his left knee. Salguero reports Tannehill’s left knee was stronger than his right knee when they checked it before training camp, as is common with players going through intense rehab after knee injuries. It sounds like Tannehill was healed and at 100% by going through treatment and rehab instead of surgery, but he happened to injure the same knee again—we’ve certainly seen players injure their knees in consecutive years. This time, though, Tannehill might just get surgery and focus on 2018. It’s highly unlikely Cutler would have come out of retirement if he wasn’t going to be starting the entire season.

Bears running backs coach Curtis Modkins gives very high praise of Jordan Howard.
Modkins spoke to Larry Mayer, a senior writer of the Chicago Bears’ official site, and was asked who Howard remind him of, and he said “I had Larry Johnson before; he has a little bit of that. He’s big and strong like Marshawn [Lynch] was. He has a little bit of Fred Jackson in him. I’ve been very impressed with what he’s done before. Those are good players and he’s a really good player. Marshawn was a big, strong guy. Larry had really good vision and could see, and Fred had a really high football IQ. Jordan has a little bit of all of that.” That’s obviously lofty praise for the second-year back, as Johnson and Lynch were All-Pros, and Jackson was a very productive player in the league. Howard is the clear centerpiece of the Bears offense, and he is a great second-round pick in fantasy drafts this season.
