Join now >Patriots-Chiefs Week 4 game postponed.
The game, originally scheduled for tomorrow, is expected to be played on Monday or Tuesday. Both Patriots starter Cam Newton and Chiefs practice squad quarterback Jordan Ta’amu have tested positive for COVID-19, and now we just have to hope both cases are contained to just one player for each team. A larger outbreak like the one in Tennessee with the Titans would create a major problem for the NFL as it looks to play a full 16-game schedule without much interruption.
10/3/20 - 11:59 AM ET
Jordan Ta’amu has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Just as there was concern with the Patriots traveling to Kansas City for their Week 4 game against the Chiefs, a Chiefs practice squad member has now also tested positive for the virus. Hopefully Ta’amu is feeling better soon, but he’ll have to get cleared before he can return to the team. The Patriots-Chiefs game is in serious jeopardy, and the recent rise in positive tests around the league is a disheartening sign.
10/3/20 - 11:56 AM ET
Cam Newton has tested positive for COVID-19.
This is a stunner the day before the Patriots’ big matchup with the Chiefs at Arrowhead, and it will obviously make things very difficult for New England’s offense after a week of game planning with the expectation that Newton would be under center. Veteran Brian Hoyer will likely take over on such short notice given his experience, with Jarrett Stidham backing him up. Newton now has to get cleared, which could take another week or two (or longer), before he can return to the field.
10/3/20 - 11:06 AM ET
Joe Mixon (chest) is now questionable for Week 4.
Mixon was suddenly added to the injury report and is now not locked in to play tomorrow against the Jaguars. Being added to the injury report the day before a game is not a great sign, but hopefully Mixon is ready to go tomorrow. The good news is that the Bengals kickoff at 1:00 PM ET, so Mixon’s status will be known by late tomorrow morning.
10/3/20 - 10:34 AM ET
Carlos Hyde (shoulder) is officially listed as questionable for Week 4.
Hyde was only limited in practice today, indicating that teammate Chris Carson (knee) might have a better shot to play this Sunday. Hyde’s status for the matchup with the Dolphins will be official on Sunday morning.
10/2/20 - 05:33 PM ET
Chris Carson (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Week 4.
Carson was able to practice on a full basis today, so he’s looking good for Sunday versus the Dolphins. Seattle plays on the East Coast at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday, so Carson’s status will be known in the morning.
10/2/20 - 05:31 PM ET
The Bears are expected to sign Lamar Miller to the practice squad, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Miller probably needs to pass COVID-19 testing before officially signing, but the veteran back is landing in a good spot to potentially get back to the active roster as Chicago looks to make up for the loss of Tarik Cohen (knee). That said, David Montgomery has a three-down skillset, and the Bears might also give more snaps to Cordarrelle Patterson. Miller isn’t currently a recommenced pickup.
