Josh Doctson | Free Agent WR

The Vikings are signing Josh Doctson, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Minnesota parted ways with 2016 first-round receiver Laquon Treadwell over the weekend, and they’re now brining in the receiver that was selected the pick before him in Doctson. The former Redskin played with Kirk Cousins in Washington, so the two have some built-in chemistry. It won’t be a big surprise if they form a quick connection, particularly on shots down the field, but for now Doctson does not need to be picked up in redraft leagues.

Julio Jones | Free Agent WR

Julio Jones and the Falcons are finalizing a new contract, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says the deal should be about $66 million over three years, but that there are “a few big conversations left to finalize.” We don’t anticipate there will be any trouble getting the extension completed. At around $22 million per year, this would make Julio the highest-paid receiver in football, which he’s certainly earned as a no-nonsense superstar that averages the most receiving yards per game in NFL history. This new deal should be announced sometime today or tonight ahead of Atlanta’s season opener at Minnesota tomorrow. Including the two years remaining on his current contract, Julio’s new deal will expire after the 2023 season when he’s 35 years old. As usual, Jones should put up monster numbers to live up to this contract and perform as an elite WR1 for fantasy teams.

Derrius Guice | Free Agent RB

Jay Gruden says Derrius Guice will be the Redskins’ top runner.

Gruden told reporters that the team’s rushing attack will run through Guice, with Chris Thompson working in on passing downs and Adrian Peterson acting as more of a backup. Guice is expected to get the most carries in Washington’s backfield, and he should carry the most fantasy value in 2019 if health cooperates. Coming off a torn ACL, Guice is a talented back that could certainly provide RB2 value this season.

Antonio Brown | Free Agent WR

The Raiders voided the nearly $30 million guaranteed in Antonio Brown’s contract, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Brown was fined $215,073.53 last night for conduct detrimental to the team, and this probably explains the recent Instagram post telling Oakland to release him. Head coach Jon Gruden has done everything he can to repair the relationship, but this could be the final straw if AB decides to not show up to Monday’s game, as the team would almost certainly decide to cut their losses and move on. There will likely be an update (or several more updates) today.

Nathan Peterman | Free Agent QB

The Raiders placed Nathan Peterman on injured reserve.

It looks like the Raiders are basically stashing Peterman on injured reserve, and this allows the team to keep Mike Glennon as the No. 2 quarterback and the recently-claimed DeShone Kizer as the No. 3. This isn’t bad for Peterman, as he’ll get to stay in the building with Jon Gruden and learn this year before potentially competing for the backup role in 2020.

Antonio Brown | Free Agent WR

Antonio Brown says “release me” on Instagram and tags the Raiders.

This is just beyond ridiculous at this point. Brown just posted on Instagram with a picture that reads “You are gonna piss a lot of people off when you start doing what’s best for you”; and with it, he put the caption: “And that’s fine ! I have worked my whole life to prove that the system is blind to see talent like mines. Now that everyone sees it, they want me to conform to that same system that has failed me all those years. ‘I’m not mad at anyone. I’m just asking for the freedom to prove them all wrong.’ Release me @raiders #NOMore”. Clearly, Brown just doesn’t get it, and he stands to lose $30 million if the Raiders to release him for conduct detrimental to the team—also, at this point, it’s difficult to see any other teams jumping at the opportunity to sign Brown if he is released. AB is literally asking for it at this point, and he obviously has some issues he needs to work out. Jon Gruden clearly wants the All-Pro receiver on his team, but it’s difficult to justify sticking with him, as he’s made it clear he’ll be a problem all season.

Ed Dickson | Free Agent TE

The Seahawks placed Ed Dickson on injured reserve.

Dickson had knee surgery earlier in the summer, and Seattle is placing him on injured reserve, which clears a roster spot for the team to bring back wide receiver Jaron Brown. The veteran tight end can return after eight weeks if he’s one of the two potential designated-to-return players for the Seahawks.
