LeSean McCoy | Retired RB

LeSean McCoy is signing a one-year deal with the Chiefs, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The deal includes $3 million guaranteed, so it’s definitely a nice chunk of change that suggests McCoy will have a sizable role on the league’s most loaded offense. Damien Williams is expected to remain the lead back, but this is a significant blow to his high-upside RB2 status, and rookie Darwin Thompson suddenly has little value in redraft leagues. Consider McCoy a FLEX option.

Logan Paulsen | Free Agent TE

The Falcons released Logan Paulsen.

This move doesn’t have a big fantasy impact, but Paulsen was a solid contributor for Atlanta in real life last season. The 32-year-old should draw interest from other teams soon.

Geno Smith | Raiders QB

The Seahawks cut Geno Smith.

This is a major surprise, as Seattle already cut Paxton Lynch earlier today and it looked like Smith would be Russell Wilson’s backup. Instead, it appears the Seahawks will bring in another quarterback to back up Wilson. Smith should quickly draw interest elsewhere.

Josh Adams | Free Agent RB

The Eagles are waiving Josh Adams.

Adams ran for 511 yards last season, but Philadelphia’s backfield added Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders in the offseason. The Notre Dame product is a pretty good bet to be claimed on the waiver wire tomorrow.

Melvin Gordon III | Free Agent RB

Chargers general manager Tom Telesco said that extension talks with Melvin Gordon will be suspended until after the season.

Since the reason for Gordon’s holdout is the lack of a quality long-term offer, this means he will either a) find a trade partner, or b) hold out into the regular season—perhaps until Week 9 when he needs to report in order to become an eligible free agent after the year. The talent makes Gordon worth gambling on in the third or fourth round (with the main hope being a trade), but it’s looking like he should be ranked outside the top 50 for those drafting without any more clarity over the next few days.

Brandon Wilds | Free Agent RB

The 49ers released Brandon Wilds.

Wilds had an uphill climb to make San Francisco’s roster, as he just signed with the team 20 days ago. The 2016 undrafted running back will look to carve out a role with another team.

Geno Smith | Raiders QB

The Seahawks are re-signing Geno Snith.

While it was surprising the Seahawks initially released Smith, it was reported that they were expected to re-sign him after the completion of the Jadeveon Clowney trade. The former second-round pick will back up Russell Wilson this season.
