NFL Week 2 Daily Fantasy Football Recommended Lineup Advice (DraftKings, FanDuel)

To open the season last week, every recommendation had at least ten points except for Derrick Henry (who had a long touchdown called back on a phantom holding call) and David Njoku. Here are the Week 2 daily fantasy football lineup recommendations for DraftKings and FanDuel.

QB: Alex Smith vs. IND

DraftKings: $6,000 | FanDuel: $7,100

In Week 1, the Colts allowed Andy Dalton to complete 75.0% of his passes with two touchdowns. Alex Smith gets a crack at them this week after Washington’s offense was humming against the talented Cardinals unit last Sunday. The concern is potentially losing touchdowns deep in the red zone if Adrian Peterson punches it in, but Smith himself can be a weapon on option plays by the goal line. In a good matchup at home, Smith offers top overall scorer potential at a nice price.

RB: Melvin Gordon @ BUF

DraftKings: $7,400 | FanDuel: $8,200

Three different Ravens running backs scored in Baltimore’s blowout Week 1 win over Buffalo, and Melvin Gordon is one of the NFL’s best touchdown-scorers. Last season, Gordon had 80 yards and a score against the Bills, but he had no receptions in the game. The chances of Gordon again not being involved as a receiver this year aren’t great, but his chances of scoring as a heavy favorite are great.

RB: Christian McCaffrey @ ATL

DraftKings: $7,000 | FanDuel: $7,400

With Greg Olsen out indefinitely because of a broken foot, Christian McCaffrey’s role as a receiver makes his floor that much higher moving forward. Against the Cowboys in Week 1, it didn’t seem like McCaffrey was heavily involved, but he still had 16 touches and 14.5 fantasy points—that might be his floor from here on out, including this week versus the Falcons. McCaffrey had five receptions in each of his two matchups with Atlanta as a rookie.

WR: Keenan Allen @ BUF

DraftKings: $7,800 | FanDuel: $8,000

Keenan Allen started his record stretch of three games with 10+ catches, 100+ yards, and 1+ touchdowns last season in Week 11 against the Bills, and he gets them again this Sunday. Buffalo’s defense not only gave up three rushing scores last week, but they also allowed three touchdowns to wide receivers. Allen offers an excellent mix of floor and upside for Week 2.

WR: Chris Godwin vs. PHI (DraftKings) | JuJu Smith-Schuster vs. KC (FanDuel)

Godwin: $4,600 | Smith-Schuster: $7,200

Just as was the case last week, a variation of salaries allows JuJu Smith-Schuster into the FanDuel lineup under the salary cap. Ben Roethlisberger might regret not going to Smith-Schuster more last week against the Browns, and he might attack the middle of the field more against the Chiefs. For DraftKings, Chris Godwin has upside in a game that the Bucs might need to score a lot while facing an Eagles team that had plenty of time to prepare after playing in the NFL’s opening game. Godwin would be a steal if DeSean Jackson is inactive or less than 100%.

WR: Sammy Watkins @ PIT

DraftKings: $4,600 | FanDuel: $5,800

The Steelers contained Tyreek Hill in their matchup with the Chiefs in 2017, and Hill is likely to be their focus after his huge Week 1 effort. This could be exactly the type of game Sammy Watkins was brought in for, as he’s an all-around receiver that can stretch the field opposite Hill. If this is a shootout like many are anticipating, Watkins could be one of the highest scorers this week.

TE: Ricky Seals-Jones @ LAR

DraftKings: $2,900 | FanDuel: $5,200

I think Ricky Seals-Jones is way underpriced on both DraftKings and FanDuel this week. The Rams just gave up 180 yards to Jared Cook, and a lot of it came on quick throws by the Raiders. The Cardinals are probably going to have to use quick throws to avoid Sam Bradford getting killed by Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh, and Seals-Jones—with good matchups against LA’s linebackers—could benefit the most. The upside might not be huge, but Seals-Jones should at least be good for a handful of receptions.

FLEX: Chris Thompson vs. IND

DraftKings: $5,900 | FanDuel: $6,200

In Week 1, Chris Thompson didn’t look like he was coming off a broken leg from last season, as he was just electric as in 2017, rushing five times for 65 yards (13.0 yards per carry) and catching five passes for 63 yards (10.5 yards per reception) and a touchdown. Thompson only needs a few touches to make a big impact, but the Redskins are going to want to get him the ball when he’s picking up double-digit yardage every time.

D/ST: Rams vs. ARI

DraftKings: $3,700 | FanDuel: $4,800

The Chargers are tempting, but I’m willing to go with a Rams team that plays at home against a Cardinals team that couldn’t get much of anything going down the field against Washington last week. If they can limit David Johnson and get Arizona into third-and-long situations, it might be a long day for Sam Bradford behind that offensive line.
