Ben Roethlisberger has announced his retirement from the NFL.
This was obviously expected following a legendary goodbye at Heinz Field in Week 17, and the two-time Super Bowl champion is officially hanging up his cleats after 18 seasons. Overall, Big Ben threw for 64,088 yards and 418 touchdowns through his career (ranking No. 5 and No. 8 all-time, respectively), and he never had a losing season with a 165-81-1 record in Pittsburgh. One of the most overlooked accomplishments of the 2004 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year was that he went 13-0 in his first season (14-1 including playoffs), and Roethlisberger was one of the best quarterbacks in history at orchestrating go-ahead drives late in the fourth quarter—including the game-winner to Santonio Holmes in Super Bowl XLIII. Both as a winner and in terms of the statistical success, Roethlisberger is well deserving of the final stop in Canton.

The 49ers activated Mohamed Sanu (knee) from injured reserve.
Sanu has been out since mid-November while on injured reserve, but he’s back for the NFC Championship Game this Sunday. The veteran receiver had 15 receptions for 177 yards in eight games for San Francisco during the regular season.

The Chiefs are waiving Josh Gordon.
Gordon, who has been inactive as a healthy scratch during the first two postseason games, is being waived from the active roster, but the Chiefs want to bring him back as depth on the practice squad. Ultimately, Kansas City trusts guys that have been in the system over the former All-Pro that joined midseason.

AJ Dillon suffered a fractured rib in Saturday night’s loss, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Dillon would have faced long odds of being cleared for next week, but Green Bay’s season coming to a shocking end will obviously have him healthy well in advance of the offseason programs. The 2020 second-round pick should be a key part of the offense next season no matter who ends up playing quarterback.

Jeff Wilson (ankle) ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Wilson went down in the first half, so JaMycal Hasty will handle pure running back duties behind Elijah Mitchell when Deebo Samuel isn’t in the backfield.
