2017 Heisman Watch (Week 6)

1. Saquon Barkley | Penn State RB | Junior | Last week: 1

Northwestern did an excellent job of limiting Saquon Barkley in the first half of their game last Saturday, but they couldn’t contain the monster runner for long. Barkley ended up with 16 carries for 75 yards and two touchdowns in the game. He now gets a bye before facing perhaps the toughest defense in the country when Penn State faces Michigan.

2. Baker Mayfield | Oklahoma QB | Senior | Last week: 2

After a huge upset loss to Iowa State, Mayfield’s Heisman chances took a hit. It’d be one thing if he led an undefeated Oklahoma team for him to have a great case over Saquon Barkley, but that is obviously now out of the question. Still, he remains at number two—he’s just no longer right behind Penn State’s runner.

3. Lamar Jackson | Louisville QB | Junior | Last week: 3

Louisville suffered another loss, pretty much ending their slim national title hopes after their loss earlier this season at home to Clemson. Still, Jackson is obviously one of the best players in college football and continues to put up huge numbers. He’s a human highlight reel every single week and should keep it going all season.

4. Bryce Love | Stanford RB | Junior | Last week: 4

Bryce Love has gone over 150 rushing yards in every game and has led Stanford to three straight wins over solid opponents. His numbers truly might be better than video game numbers you would be able to put up in the old “Road to Glory” game mode in NCAA Football games (when they used to make them). Most guys would take his current numbers for a whole season and be extremely happy.

5. Luke Falk | Washington State QB | Senior | Last week: NR

This one might be long overdue, but after Washington State’s blowout over Oregon, it’s undeniable that Luke Falk belongs on the Heisman Watch. If he helps lead his team get to an undefeated record come season end, Falk will be in New York for the Heisman Ceremony.
