Strengths

Sticky cover corner with elite quickness and explosiveness. Excellent length for his size. Top-end recovery speed. Great awareness in zone coverage. Technique is always on point in man coverage. Comfortable and quick in the backpedal. Can easily transition and accelerate to plays in front of him. Attacks the ball in the air with superb timing and anticipation. Confident in press coverage. Should be dominant in the slot. Aggressive and effective tackler.

Weaknesses

Doesn’t possess elite ball skills. Bigger receivers could give him issues on deep passes and jump-ball situations. Can do a better job tracking the ball downfield.

NFL Comparisons

Janoris Jenkins – Adam Jones – Chris Harris Jr.

Conclusion

Ward is a sticky cover corner that has not only the toughness, quickness, and instincts to play inside, but also has the length and speed to play outside. While he has a chance to be the best slot corner in the league, Ward should be outside in base packages.
