Strengths

World-class football character. Unmatched versatility. Has experience playing every spot in the secondary. Top-end instincts at nickel and box safety. Elite cover man in the slot. Great ball skills and vision. Always in the right place in zone coverage. Speed and intelligence allows him to cover the entire field as a single-high safety. Has the length and natural ability to be a productive perimeter corner. Can take away talented receiving tight ends. Will take on blockers and make the tackle. Effective blitzer. Perfected his technique under Nick Saban.

Weaknesses

Doesn’t possess elite explosiveness. Could struggle as a full-time, man-to-man cornerback.

NFL Comparisons

Malcolm Jenkins – Tyrann Mathieu – Nnamdi Asomugha

Conclusion

Fitzpatrick’s overall skillset makes him a low-risk pick at the top of the draft, and he will hold both himself and his teammates accountable at the next level. I would want to use him in a variety of ways as a do-it-all safety.
