Strengths

Very explosive off the edge. Solid overall build. Outstanding length for his height. Elite motor. Knows how to get to the quarterback. Has the power to collapse the pocket with a bull rush against weaker tackles. Can get bend around the corner. Has a counter move to work back inside. Gets flat and accelerates to the quarterback. Excellent closing burst when the ball is in the range. Has the strength hold up against the run. Will chase down ball-carriers as a weak-side defender. Hands are strong and aggressive. Attacks the football to create turnovers.

Weaknesses

Needs to improve as a run defender. Can do a better job setting the edge. Hand placement needs to be more consistent. Doesn’t look comfortable when dropping back in coverage.

NFL Comparisons

Von Miller – Yannick Ngakoue – Elvis Dumervil

Conclusion

Okoronwko isn’t getting the media attention he deserves through the pre-draft process, but he profiles as a game-wrecking edge defender if he reaches his potential. I’d like him best as a 3-4 outside linebacker.
