Strengths

Eye-popping combination of size and speed. Has the frame of an NBA wing. Tremendous range. Great quickness and athleticism. Finishes when he’s close to the action. Can easily serve as a spy on the quarterback. Excellent closing burst as a blitzer. Effective on both straight blitzes and delayed blitzes. Comfortable covering in man and zone assignments. Elite pass-rushing upside. Very high character. Doesn’t turn 20 until after the draft.

Weaknesses

Slow diagnosing. Can have trouble finding the ball. Offensive linemen will get the better of him. Needs to get stronger. Only one interception at Virginia Tech.

NFL Comparisons

Anthony Barr – Jamie Collins – Julian Peterson

Conclusion

Edmunds is a versatile linebacker prospect with sky-high potential at the next level. His combination of size, speed, and athleticism should allow a coaching staff to mold him however they see fit, but I like him best as an outside linebacker in a 4-3 defense.
