Strengths

Above-average athleticism. Good overall size. Very smooth. Excellent footwork as a pass blocker. Stays balanced. Great awareness in protection. Powerful hands. Effective puncher due to hand placement and timing. Quick feet. Has the ability to lead the way in space. Good acceleration as a puller. Finds linebackers to block at the second level. Doesn’t let guys get away from him when he gets inside. Good finisher. Came back from injury for final regular season game to get a win and earn a bowl-game berth for his teammates.

Weaknesses

2017 season was hampered by a knee injury. Arms are on the shorter side for an NFL tackle. Could have issues reaching long-armed defenders. Added strength would allow him to move linemen off the spot more often in the running game.

NFL Comparisons

Jake Matthews – Dion Dawkins – Ronnie Stanley

Conclusion

Williams didn’t have a good 2017 season for a first-round prospect, but his knee injury could have hampered him more than we know. I think the Texas standout will turn into a star left tackle and should be the first tackle off the board in the 2018 NFL Draft.
