Strengths

Towering, long-armed tackle with great athleticism. Tough and intelligent. Keeps defenders away with length. Strong hands allow him to stay engaged. Generally effective with punch placement. Ideal base and balance in pass protection. Quick feet. Does an excellent job mirroring against pass rushers. Prepared to counter against inside moves. Can easily guide defenders away from the pocket if they get too far upfield. Moves to the second level in the running game. Plays with great effort.

Weaknesses

Overall technique needs improvement. Gets pushed back too often for his size. Bull rushes can knock him off balance. Doesn’t consistently move people in the running game. High pad level could be an issue against anchors and good benders on the edge.

NFL Comparisons

Alejandro Villanueva – Nate Soldier – King Dunlap

Conclusion

Kolton Miller has the size and athleticism to be a star tackle at the next level, but it will likely take time. He’s been talked about as a Day 1 pick, but I would be more comfortable taking Miller in the middle of the second round.
