Strengths

Elite awareness. Smooth lineman with above-average athleticism. Gets great bend in a tall frame. Long arms keep defenders from getting inside. Superb technique as a pass-protector. Excellent feet. Keeps pass rushers in front of him. Does a tremendous job on double-team blocks in the running game. Gets the most out his strength with excellent technique. Always has a balanced base and is ready to strike. Effectively times his punches. Team leader with desired football character.

Weaknesses

Doesn’t have elite power. Needs to punish people more in his frame. Could have trouble moving strong defensive lineman off the spot. Hands and feet could be a little more in synch.

NFL Comparisons

Jared Veldheer – Taylor Lewan – Demar Dotson

Conclusion

McGlinchey looks like a dominant left tackle and has the traits to eventually become one, but he needs to play with more power and might be a better fit on the right side early in his career.
