Strengths
Throws with great anticipation and touch. Moves defenders with his eyes and subtle movements. Works through progressions. Sees an opening in the coverage and rips it. Powerful arm that generates velocity to easily make any throw on the field. Creative when the play breaks down. Will take a hit to make a throw. Can keep drives alive with his legs. Very confident. Has a short memory. Showed up on the big stage. Has all the intangibles you want in a franchise quarterback.
Weaknesses
Needs to improve decision-making. Interceptions and fumbles are both a concern. Loopy release.
NFL Comparisons
Ryan Fitzpatrick – Andrew Luck – Jameis Winston
Conclusion
Darnold is a talented passer and crafty playmaker that has shown he can perform on the biggest stage, but I’m concerned about the turnovers at the next level. Overall, his intangibles might be enough to offset some potentially-fatal turnover flaws at the top of the draft.
Wow that Fitzpatrick comparison is spot on. I knew he played a lot like someone but couldn’t think of who.
Best player in the draft.
Winston is 100 times better than him.
LOL!!!!!!! That’s a good one. I needed a laugh like that!!
yup intangibles are unquestionable
I like this guy. Wouldn’t mind him dropping and having him sit behind Smith for a bit.
That would be great for them, but I doubt it happens.
