Strengths
Dynamic athlete with track-star speed. Great contact balance. Exceptional quickness and burst in the hole. Able to instinctively side step and get downfield. Above-average vision. Sees the end zone when he gets a crease. Pushes it to the perimeter on outside runs and recognizes cutback opportunities. Spin move can make would-be tacklers look silly. Powerful stiff arm. Will fight for extra yardage and isn’t afraid to take a hit. Takes care of the ball in traffic. High potential as a pass-catcher. Has the ability to play in the slot or as a wide receiver. Very dangerous as a returner.
Weaknesses
Probably doesn’t have the size to be a workhorse option for an extended period of time. Might not be able to consistently take big hits at the next level. Patience could be improved on inside runs. Needs to be more polished and focused as a receiver.
NFL Comparisons
Tyreek Hill – Chris Thompson – Corey Grant
Conclusion
Nyheim Hines is an electric backfield option that possesses track-star speed, but he isn’t just a finesse player. I liken his potential to what Tyreek Hill might look like if he exclusively played running back, so Hines is probably being overlooked by many draft analysts. I would be shocked if he wasn’t a Day 2 pick.
Never heard of him, but I’d take Tyreek Hill at running back
