Strengths
All-around safety prospect. Prototypical size. Very intelligent. Great range and instincts. Puts himself in position to make plays. Excellent in zone coverage. Can play centerfield or drop down as a robber. Comes up to make tackles. Big hitter. Will wrap-up tackle or lower his shoulder to strike. Comfortable playing in the box. Good hands. Does a tremendous job tracking the ball in the air. Has the ability to take it to the house. Can play either safety spot.
Weaknesses
Could struggle against quicker receivers in man-to-man coverage. Doesn’t have top-end athleticism. Plays a little stiff.

Conclusion
DeShon Elliott isn’t getting the recognition he deserves by draft “experts,” but he is an all-around safety that can take the ball away on the back end (two interceptions against Sam Darnold) or come up and make a big hit. I think he’s the third-best safety in the class and well worth a pick early on Day 2.
I am shocked he’s not ranked higher by most
Because Texas wasn’t any good is probably why he’s not considered better
not athletic enough
He is good I have to admit
