Strengths

Phenomenal athlete. Former volleyball and basketball player. Elite leaper. Huge frame and catch radius. Excellent hands. Makes tough catches in traffic. Skies for contested passes. Dominant red-zone threat. Can run routes from anywhere on the field. Very smooth and deceptive. Exceptional speed, quickness, and explosiveness for a tight end. Too big for most defensive backs. Too fast for most linebackers. Should be a mismatch nightmare all over at the next level.

Weaknesses

Not a very effective blocker. Needs to get pad level lower at the point of attack. Jams and press coverage could disrupt him.

NFL Comparisons

Jimmy Graham – Coby Fleener – Austin Seferian-Jenkins

Conclusion

Gesicki is an elite red-zone threat and field-stretcher that should be used all over the field. He needs to improve his blocking, but based on receiving ability alone, the Penn State product is clearly top tight end in this year’s class.
