Strengths
Very smooth route runner. Should be able to develop a full route tree. Wins with craftiness and physicality. Muscular frame. Makes plays in traffic and over the middle. Dominant in the slot with the skillset to thrive outside. Good length with natural hands. Deceptive at the top of the route. Exceptional ball tracker. Great feel for finding the hole against zone coverage. Glider in the open field. Tough and slippery after the catch. Has deceptive breakaway speed. Intelligent and ultra-competitive. Clear focal-point of an Ole Miss passing attack that included three NFL receiver prospects. Two-sport athlete drafted by the San Diego Padres.
Weaknesses
Will sometimes have a focus drop. Doesn’t possess elite NFL explosiveness or leaping ability.
NFL comparison
Sterling Sharpe – Like A.J. Brown, Sharpe was a physical, well-built target that could get open, run after the catch, and play inside or outside as a former No. 7 overall pick of the Packers.
Conclusion
Overall, A.J. Brown is an all-around receiver that should be the No. 1 option of a passing attack at the next level. I think he can easily win on the outside, but Brown should at least be a potential game-breaking target out of the slot.
Metcalf or Brown?
Metcalf. Brown is mega overrated.. no way 9th.
Great to see him top 10. So underrated.
