Strengths

Great size as a prototype big safety. Elite athleticism and explosiveness. Very aggressive overall player. Excellent speed and acceleration. Smooth mover at his size. Very strong. Physical taking on and shedding blocks. Reliable wrap-up tackler. Plays with violence. Missiles to the ball when he sees it. Big hitter that will strike under control. Good range as a deep safety. Has the athletic profile to erase opposing tight ends. Plus ball skills with four years of ball production. Effective as a blitzer from mid-safety spot. Hustles all over and wants to be in on the action. Seems to have in-your-face confidence. Nephew of Hall of Fame safety Steve Atwater.

Weaknesses

More of a projection because of competition level. Might be a bit slow diagnosing the run. Will take poor run fits. Often just used as a middle rover in zone coverage. Can be a bit flat footed in man coverage.

Conclusion

Overall, Chinn possesses an elite combination of size, athleticism, and aggressiveness as a prototype safety with free or strong versatility. I think he popped enough on tape to feel confident about spending a top-60 pick on despite the competition level at Southern Illinois.
