Strengths
Elite speed on the outside. Has the movement skills of a smaller player. Rare twitchiness for a player his size/height. Fluid and stays on his toes. Terrific stop-start ability. Tremendous length. Has hands ready to strike in press coverage. Great feet and trusts them around the line of scrimmage. Patient/disciplined early in routes. Waits for receivers to make a move and quickly reacts. Impressive feel for routes in one-on-one coverage. Smooth to open and run versus vertical routes. Knows how to use the sideline to limit space for throws along the boundary. Very quick to flip hips out of side shuffle to cover out-breaking routes. Good ability to run with drag routes. Aggressive playing the ball for pass breakups when he has his head around. Experienced and effective in man coverage at all three cornerback spots. Shows some physicality taking on blocks.
Weaknesses
Hand placement in coverage could lead to more penalties at the next level. Needs to be more consistent getting head around on downfield passes. Could have a better feel for spacing in zone coverage. Needs to be stronger as a tackler. Allows separation too easily on second-chance plays. Limited ball production.
NFL comparison
Carlton Davis
Conclusion
Overall, Campbell is a lengthy cornerback with outstanding movement skills for his size, and he could be a frustrating cover man on the perimeter if he cleans some things up. Battling and holding his own versus top competition in the SEC is reason to be optimistic about Campbell’s NFL outlook as a strong option on Day 2.
UGA defenders looking good.
