Strengths
Great overall size with excellent length. Thick and powerful. Impressive athleticism at his size. Uses length and strength to move defenders. Showed ability to get in front and drive for several yards. Can immediately turn defenders on contact. Quick off the ball in general. Plus acceleration to get out in space. Great first-step quickness in pass sets. Very strong anchor in pass protection. Keeps a wide base that can be difficult to get around. Length allows him to recover versus speed. Hands are ready to latch/strike. Easily squashes inside rushes. Usually even-keeled but noticed a desire to continue with the running game with hand signal to the sideline. Three-year starter with two full seasons at left tackle and one at right guard.
Weaknesses
Average mirror skills in pass protection. Concerns about ability to handle quality speed rushes. Questionable field vision. Penalties need to be cleaned up. Lacking some pop in his hands to effectively strike. Needs to get lower half more consistently involved to drive. Has some issues with balance and going to the ground. Too much standing around instead of looking for someone to hit.

Conclusion
Overall, Leatherwood is a big and strong offensive tackle with quality athleticism, but he needs to unlock more power and have more of an edge to reach his ceiling. The experience and position versatility should make him a target at some point on Day 2.
