Strengths
Quick feet in the side shuffle technique. Comfortable in press coverage. Impressive strength jamming at the line of scrimmage. Very sticky on underneath routes and will use hands without committing a penalty. Stays right on the hip of his man on drag routes. Excellent ability to breakup passes in the trail position. Plus burst/acceleration. Quick reaction time. Very quick to play in-breaking routes. Exceptional play recognition in zone coverage. Tremendous ball skills. Good ability to wrap and bring opponents down as a tackler. Played both left and right cornerback. Has seen snaps in the slot. Very competitive. Experience as a kick returner and punt returner at Clemson. Starter at two big-time college football programs with two national championship wins.
Weaknesses
Serious concerns about top speed versus NFL deep threats. Size can lead to some losses in contested catch situations. Not as effective sticking with opponents when playing a soft cushion. Hips are a bit stiff changing direction downfield. Can get caught looking with his eyes in the backfield. Gets unnecessarily grabby. Allows some space on comeback routes. Dismissed from Clemson following 2020 season for drug and marijuana charges.

Conclusion
Overall, Kendrick is a battle-tested perimeter cornerback with impressive stickiness and ball skills. There are definite concerns about character and matching up with NFL talent, but Kendrick has enough experience and on-field competitiveness to become a solid option at the next level.
Why are some guys running such slow 40 times?
They’re football players and not track athletes. Football speed and intelligence isn’t the same thing as straight line speed on a track.
Pre-draft process hasn’t been favorable. But DK is a player who will perform satisfactorily in the NFL. He’s got football DNA and it will manifest itself at the next level.
