WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Andrew Hawkins | Retired WR

Andrew Hawkins has informed the Patriots he is retiring.

It's a little surprising he came to this decision right before the start of Pats camp, but the 31-year-old receiver said his body didn't respond after OTAs and he's not feeling how he should. The classy receiver thanked the Patriots franchise for giving him the opportunity with them. Hawkins finishes his six-year career with 209 receptions for 2,419 yards, and nine receiving touchdowns while playing for both the Browns and Bengals. He's starting his Phd in February and seems to have things lined up well for retirement. We could see Hawkins back in the NFL in a team's front office at some point.

Free agent receiver Andrew Hawkins is signing with the Patriots, according to Adam Schefter.

Hawkins played his last three seasons with the Browns. He can contribute on special teams and will add great depth to an already deep New England receiving corps. He's probably not a lock to make the team, but Hawkins definitely has a shot at earning a spot.

Andrew Hawkins is working out for the Patriots, according to Field Yates.

As if New England needs anymore weapons. Hawkins spent the past three seasons in Cleveland before spending the first three years with Cincinnati. The 5'7" receiver only has one season with over 800 receiving yards in his career, but getting paired with Tom Brady would make anything possible. Still, even if he's signed by the Pats, it's unlikely Hawkins would make the team with Brandin Cooks, Julian, Edelman, Chris Hogan, Malcolm Mitchell, and Danny Amendola locked-in as Brady's top-five receivers.

The Browns have cut receiver Andrew Hawkins.

Hawkins spent three seasons with the Browns after three with the Bengals. He's only 30-years-old and can definitely keep playing if he wants to. He'll get a jump start on finding a new team ahead of free agency.

Andrew Hawkins caught one pass for 20 yards against the Steelers.

Hawkins has surpassed 50 yards just once this season. Leave him on the wire.
