WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell (ankle) is officially active for Week 16.

Powell will mix in behind Le'Veon Bell, but he is not a recommended fantasy option with fantasy championships on the line.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell (ankle) is officially listed as questionable for Week 16.

Powell was limited in practice all week and looks to have a pretty good shot to play against the Steelers this Sunday. Powell's official status will be known by 11:30 AM ET on gameday.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell (ankle/illness) has been ruled out for tomorrow night.

After getting a nice workload during Le'Veon Bell's absence last week, Powell is now out while Bell returns to the lineup for the Jets. Hopefully Powell is ready to return for Week 16 after the mini bye.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

The Jets have signed Bilal Powell.

Powell worked out for the team today, and they didn’t waste any time signing him. The veteran has been in New York since entering the league in 2011, but he will obviously have much stiffer competition for touches this year with Le’Veon Bell locked in as the starter, which makes Powell nothing more than a late-round flier that will need to beat out Ty Montgomery and Elijah McGuire for backup duties.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell is fully cleared from his neck injury, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

A letter was sent to all 32 teams saying that Powell is fully healthy and "really looking forward to getting back to work." Former Jets head coach Todd Bowles had said that Powell was expected to make a full recovery; and, now a free agent, the 30-year-old is already cleared to return to action. With free-agent signings no longer counting about the compensatory pick formula for this offseason, multiple teams should be interested in adding Powell to their running back group. Powell can contribute as both a runner and a receiver, and he has shown big-play ability throughout his career in eight seasons with the Jets.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell is expected to make a full recovery from his neck injury, according to Jets head coach Todd Bowles.

This is great to hear, as yesterday it sounded like Powell's career was in serious doubt. It's no lock Powell will play again, but it looks like he should be able to if he wants to. Powell is set to become a free agent this offseason, but we'd think the Jets would be interested in bringing him back as at least a change-of-pace back in 2019. We again wish him luck on his surgery and recovery.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell is having neck surgery.

This explains Powell being placed on injured reserve. Jets head coach Todd Bowles said it's "possible" this is a career-ending injury for the 29-year-old running back. This is tough to hear, and we wish Powell the best of luck moving forward.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

The Jets placed Bilal Powell (neck) on injured reserve.

There's an outside chance Powell is brought back as a designated-to-return player, but his season is probably over. This is tough to hear for the veteran running back, as he was having another solid season for a Jets team that is competing in the AFC. Powell's season ends with 80 carries for 343 yards along with 11 receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown. Isaiah Crowell is the clear leader in New York's backfield now, making him a stronger FLEX option in fantasy lineups. Rookie Trenton Cannon will receive more work, too, but Elijah McGuire, who was on injured reserve but has been designated to return, might be the player to keep an eye on after the hype he received in the offseason.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell (neck) is out for the rest of today's game.

It was unclear what type of injury Powell suffered, and unfortunate it's a neck injury. Hopefully it's not too serious, but Powell is done for the rest of the afternoon. Before leaving, Powell had five carries for 20 yards and added one reception for five yards. Trenton Cannon should get more work behind Isiah Crowell with Powell out.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell leaves game with an injury.

The exact injury Powell suffered is unclear, but he wasn't down on the ground for too long. We'll update you when the team provides more information on Powell's injury.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell leads the Jets in Week 6 rushing.

Powell carried 16 times for 59 yards against the Colts, out-carrying and out-performing Isaiah Crowell (13 carries, 40 yards). Powell will likely have some big weeks, but he's difficult to trust as more than an uninspiring FLEX option in fantasy lineups while he's part of a committee backfield.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell nears 100 yards in Jets' win.

While Isaiah Crowell benefited from being in on plays where the offensive line opened gaping holes and broke the Jets' single-game rushing record (219 yards) in the process, Powell received more work in the game, carrying 20 times for 99 yards. Powell broke a 38-yard run of his own in the game, but he also lost a fumble. Overall, it was an exceptional game from the offensive line and the running game, and they'll look to keep it going next week against the Colts. Powell is just a FLEX option for that game.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell gets 12 touches against the Jaguars.

Powell led the Jets backfield in the Week 4 loss, out-touching Isaiah Crowell 12-5. Powell had eight carries for 26 yards and four receptions (on seven targets) for 26 yards in the game. He remains just a risky FLEX for Week 5 against the Broncos.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell gets 14 carries in Jets' loss.

Powell again worked in an even timeshare with Isaiah Crowell, but Crowell scored twice against his former team. Still, Powell ran the ball well (better than Crowell, overall, aside from the two scores) and had a respectable fantasy performance. He carried 14 times for 73 yards, with a long run of 21 yards. Powell probably needs a score to deliver startable fantasy value in Week 4 against the Jaguars.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell scores in Week 2 loss.

Powell carried five times for six yards and caught five passes for 74 yards and a touchdown against the Dolphins. The score was on a 28-yard catch-and-run over the middle. Isaiah Crowell (12 carries) received more work on the ground, but Powell is the preferred receiving option for the Jets. Powell will look to break a big play this Thursday night against Cleveland.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell gets 13 touches in Week 1.

Powell started the game for the Jets, as expected, and he played well against the Lions. Powell had 12 carries for 60 rushing yards and added one reception for five receiving yards in the win. Isaiah Crowell played even better, carrying ten times for 102 yards and two touchdowns, including a 62-yard touchdown run. Expect this backfield split to continue in Week 2 and beyond.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell gets 14 touches against New England.

Powell had 13 carries for 46 yards and one reception for ten yards in the Week 17 loss. His regular season ends with 178 carries for 772 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns along with 23 receptions for 170 receive yards in 15 games (10 starts). The running back situation for the Jets remains very much up in the air heading into the offseason, so it's difficult to gauge Powell's fantasy value for 2018.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell breaks a long touchdown in Jets' loss.

Powell had a big performance on the ground against the Chargers, which was helped by a long touchdown by him in the third quarter. He had 19 carries for 145 yards and a touchdown in the loss, with the touchdown being a 57-yarder. Powell has shown his ability to break long runs over the last two years. He carries some risk against the Patriots to conclude the season next week, but there is some upside there.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell scores in loss to the Saints.

Powell rushed 13 times for 44 yards, including a two-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. While he didn't catch a pass, Powell led the team in carries by nearly doubling up Matt Forte. Still, he will be a risky fantasy option over the final two weeks with Forte and rookie Elijah McGuire around. The Jets play the Chargers next Sunday.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell leads backfield in shutout loss.

Powell rushed 13 times for 35 yards. New York is now 5-8 and could see more of rookie Elijah McGuire down the stretch. It's probably best to look elsewhere if you've been relying on Powell recently. The Jets travel to New Orleans in Week 15.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell scores against the Chiefs.

Powell carried 18 times for 48 yards and a touchdown, along with two receptions for two yards. The score came on an outside run to the left at the goal line, which Powell basically walked in on. The Jets had 49 rushing attempts in this one, which is not something that's going to happen every week. Denver next week will likely be tougher on the ground for Powell and the Jets.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell gets ten touches in Week 12.

Powell carried nine times for 34 yards and added one reception for 12 yards against the Panthers. Powell is having another fine season, but he's difficult to trust in fantasy lineups while in a committee with Matt Forte and Elijah McGuire.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell disappoints with Matt Forte out of the lineup.

Powell rushed 10 times f0r 30 yards and caught a six-yard pass, as Elijah McGuire out-touched and out-gained him in the loss. Some fantasy experts wanted to immediately call Powell an RB1 with Forte out, but that was clearly a mistake. Outside of a fluky 75-yard touchdown earlier in the season, it's been mostly a struggle for Powell this year. McGuire might be the better fantasy option down the stretch.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell carries nine times in Jets' win.

Powell was third in the running back rotation against the Bills, but he had the longest carry of the game (51 yards). Overall, Powell had nine carries for 74 yards and a touchdown in the Week 9 victory. The long run was a very nice run by Powell, but it was also some very poor tackling by the Bills—something that happened a lot throughout the game. Powell has some major game-breaking ability, but he's difficult to trust in fantasy lineups at the moment. It's possible he gets the most touches in the backfield committee next week, though.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell leads backfield in 25-20 loss to the Falcons.

Powell rushed 14 times for 33 yards and caught three passes for 28 yards. While Matt Forte put up some better receiving numbers, he carried it just four times, so at least for one week, the Jets committed to Powell as the lead ball-carrier. Still, besides a fluky 75-yard score in Week 4 where the Jaguars weren't aware enough to touch him down, Powell is averaging just 3.30 yards per carry this season. He is just a weak FLEX option on Thursday night against a Buffalo team that he recorded 12 touches for 39 yards against in the season opener.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell returns to lead backfield in carries.

Powell rushed nine times for 43 yards in the loss to the Dolphins, also adding two catches for 40 yards. Powell was able to rip off gains of 25 and 31, but he was mostly held in check besides that. He will be a decent FLEX option against the Falcons in Week 8.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell (calf) is not on the Week 7 injury report.

Powell practiced fully the last two days and is ready to go against the Dolphins. His return complicates the backfield situation for the Jets, as it'll likely go back to being a three-way committee with Powell, Matt Forte, and rookie Elijah McGuire. They're all in the FLEX conversation with low floors.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell (calf) practiced fully today.

It wasn't a good start to the week when Powell didn't practice yesterday, but it looks like he was just getting an extra day of rest. The official injury report for the game will tell more when it's released tomorrow, but expect Powell to return after missing one game, barring a setback.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell (calf) did not practice today.

Powell appears to be on the doubtful side of things for this week, but it's still only Wednesday and maybe he'll practice tomorrow or Friday. He was questionable last week instead of doubtful, so perhaps that's a positive.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell (calf) is out against the Patriots.

Powell didn't practice at all this week, so this was fully expected. Matt Forte is back just at the right time, as he'll split work with rookie Elijah McGuire versus New England. Powell has a shot to play in Week 7 against the Dolphins.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell (calf) did not practice today.

He's officially listed as questionable for the game, but it would be surprising if he played after not practicing all week. Meanwhile, Matt Forte is set to return after missing a couple games and will likely split the carries with rookie Elijah McGuire. Check in on Sunday about Powell's status, but don't expect him to be active against New England.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell (calf) did not practice today.

Practicing tomorrow would give him a chance, but Powell likely won't be playing against New England on Sunday.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell sees just six touches as he leaves game with calf injury.

Powell rushed twice for five yards and caught four passes for 28 yards, but didn't play in the second half after getting injured. He returned to the sidelines, which suggests he could have returned, so that should be seen as a silver lining. Keep an eye on the injury report, but Powell will be worth a look as a FLEX play if he's healthy for next Sunday against New England.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell totals 190 yards in win over the Jaguars.

Powell rushed 21 times for 163 yards and one touchdown, adding four catches for 27 yards. The highlight was a 75-yard touchdown were he fell down, all the Jacksonville defenders thought he was touched, and he got up and sprinted about 70 yards for the score. Powell's workload was the most encouraging thing about the game, and he should see a good amount of touches until Matt Forte (toe) returns. The 28-year-old is on pace for 940 rushing yards and eight scores through four weeks, and he gets a nice matchup with Cleveland next Sunday.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell scores in Week 3 win.

Powell received a team-high 15 carries for 37 yards and a touchdown in the game. Matt Forte was second on the team with eight carries, so Powell led the committee this week. Still, given he averaged under three yards per carry, it's hard to trust Powell next week against the Jags.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

The Jets will continue to use a three-man committee at running back.

Matt Forte, Bilal Powell, and rookie Elijah McGuire will all split the backfield work this season. Obviously, this is a nightmare from a fantasy perspective, as it'll be difficult to trust any of them in your lineup. During the preseason, there was talk of the Jets using Forte and Powell in a tandem with both potentially getting 15+ touches per game, but McGuire also being in the mix means that's certainly not going to happen. Powell was going as a mid-round pick in most leagues, and it doesn't look like he'll give good return on that draft slot unless something changes moving forward.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell doesn't do much in Week 2.

Powell had six carries for 13 yards against Oakland, and he was outperformed by Matt Forte and rookie Elijah McGuire. Powell obviously has big-play ability as he showed at the end of last season, but he's logging less than 50% of the work in the Jets backfield and won't be a fantasy option unless he starts to get at least 12-15+ touches per game.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell leads Jets in touches in Week 1.

Matt Forte received most of the work early in the game, but Powell ended up getting 12 touches compared to Forte's nine. Powell had seven carries for 22 yards and five receptions for 17 yards against the Bills. The backfield is being split evenly right now, but Powell would likely be the one to get more work if the Jets eventually opt to feed one guy more. The Jets play against Oakland next Sunday.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell plays in the Jets' fourth preseason game.

The offensive starters played a couple series for the Jets, and Powell was out there with them, carrying six times for five yards and adding two receptions for 23 yards. If the Jets part ways with Matt Forte before Saturday's 4:00 PM ET deadline, whether through trade or release, Powell would be in line for a huge workload for the Jets this season.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell breaks long touchdown in Jets' third preseason game.

Powell had 11 touches total in the exhibition against the Giants, carrying seven times for 32 yards and adding four receptions for 110 yards and an 85-yard touchdown. The touchdown came late in the third quarter on an angle route from Bryce Petty that Powell caught and was off to the races. Because Powell was playing late in the game than Forte, it looks like he's currently the number two running back—but both Powell and Forte are expected to get a lot of work this season in a split backfield. Still, Powell is currently going much higher than Forte in fantasy drafts and might ultimately provide about the same fantasy output.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell sees good workload in second preseason game.

Powell rushed nine times for 32 yards and caught two passes for 14 yards. The Jets are alarmingly low on talent this year, and Powell or Matt Forte (who did not play last night) look like the best bets for fantasy production, but that's not saying much. Going in the seventh round of fantasy drafts, you can probably do better than Powell there.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell will play in tomorrow night's preseason game against the Lions.

Powell didn't play in the first preseason game, but he'll be out there for the Jets tomorrow night. Teammate Matt Forte (hamstring) won't be playing in the game after he missed practice all week, so Powell will look to carve out a bigger piece of what the team had indicated will be a pretty even timeshare. He'll probably get a few series in the game.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell returns to Jets practice.

Powell was dealing with a neck injury that kept him out for over a week, but he's back and practicing in team drills today. Meanwhile, Matt Forte still isn't practicing because of a hamstring injury. Both Powell and Forte are expected to split work evenly this season, but Powell is the first one back and practicing, so he might be able to seize the better end of the workload. Powell should be out there on Saturday night against the Lions in the team's second preseason game.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell won't play in the Jets' first preseason game this Saturday.

Powell is dealing with a neck injury and hasn't practiced fully for a few days because of it. Head coach Todd Bowles did say that Matt Forte (hamstring) might play, but it'd be a surprise if he played more than a few snaps. Running back is one of the bright spots on the Jets roster, so they'll probably want to keep those guys healthy for the regular season.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Matt Forte and Bilal Powell are expected to share the workload this season.

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, Jets running backs coach Stump Mitchell "says his goal is for each player to average 100 yards per game from scrimmage." With a lot of young receivers in the receiving corps, it looks like Forte and Powell could each be fed the rock a lot this season. Powell showed a lot of juice towards the end of last season and is seen as having more upside in terms of fantasy value, but Forte historically has shown he can be a top five fantasy back. They could both see 15+ touches per game this season, so they both might deliver RB2/FLEX value in 2017.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell says the new Jets offense puts the running backs in a lot of different places.

John Morton is the Jets' new offensive coordinator and he brings West Coast concepts to the team. Powell told Jets reporter Eric Allen that running backs are put in a good spot in the new offense. The Jets might rely on their running backs in the run game more this season, and they have both Powell and Matt Forte in the mix. They both should have some fantasy value, with whoever the lead back is likely set to be an RB2. As of now, Powell is probably the better bet to get more touches.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

New Jets offensive coordinator John Morton said the team will use a running-back-by-committee this season.

Both Matt Forte and Bilal Powell are in the Jets' backfield, and they are both very capable players. Morton said the gameplan will vary from week to week, but both players should get time each week. Forte and Powell both performed well last season, but Powell is likely to emerge as the leader of the committee because he showed more juice when on the field last season. They should both be drafted, and they both might be able to carry fantasy value this season.

Bilal Powell gets 25 touches in Jets' finale.

He had 22 carries for 122 yards and three receptions for 15 yards and a touchdown. Powell has been great for the Jets this season, with 131 carries for 722 yards and three touchdowns rushing, along with 58 receptions for 368 yards and two touchdowns receiving. It's fair to wonder if Powell will have a big role in 2017 with the Jets, as he averaged 5.5 YPC on the season and is a dynamic receiver out of the backfield. We'll update you on his potential role throughout training camp and the preseason ahead of 2017 drafts.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell (knee/illness) listed as questionable.

Powell hasn't practiced all week, but with Matt Forte out there is a chance Powell plays. If he does suit up, he'd be an RB2 against the Bills.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell rushed 15 times for 60 yards and caught two passes for 14 yards in Sunday's loss to the Patriots.

Powell was the only decent source of offense for the Jets on Saturday, as New York could only score three points--while the Pats scored 41. The Jets should feature Powell in Week 17 in what expects to be a closer game against Buffalo. He's an RB2.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell starts, gets 27 touches for the Jets.

Powell worked ahead of Matt Forte, who was obviously limited with a torn meniscus. Powell had 16 carries for 84 yards and 11 catches for 78 yards. He looked very good and the offense worked through him all night. The only thing missing for Powell was a touchdown, but he had a great fantasy day. With Forte likely to be limited in the last two games as well, Powell is a great RB2 option.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell has a big day for the Jets after Forte goes down.

Powell had two touchdowns and 145 yards rushing on 29 carries, including the game-winning score in overtime. For good measure, he threw in 34 more yards on 5 receptions. The Jets have been hinting at a bigger role for Powell all season, but a knee injury to starter Matt Forte made Powell get all the work today. No word on Forte’s prognosis, but Powell is a must-add if he is available and would be a solid RB2 next week against the Dolphins if Forte is out.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell only gets one touch in Week 13.

Powell had one carry for three yards. He only had one target in the passing game. It's a bit surprising that Powell didn't get much work, even with the Jets being down so early in the game. Powell is a risky FLEX option next week against the 49ers.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Bilal Powell managed 36 yards on eight carries Sunday, but caught only one of his three pass targets for seven more yards in the Jets' loss to the Patriots.

Powell looked strong running the ball in his limited opportunities but Mat Forte will continue to handle the bulk of the running back action for the Jets as long as he remains healthy. Powell is a PPR FLEX option, but would need a Forte injury to have good standard value.

Bilal Powell | Retired RB

Powell scores in Week 10.

He had four carries for 37 yards and seven catches for 52 yards and a touchdown. Powell has a great receiving skills, but as long as Matt Forte is playing he's only a handcuff or PPR FLEX.
