WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

The Saints have released Brandon Coleman, according to ESPN's Field Yates.

The 2014 undrafted free agent from Rutgers has spent each of his four NFL seasons in New Orleans, catching 79 passes for 1,099 yards and eight touchdowns. After the Saints signed Cameron Meredith and drafted Tre'Quan Smith in the third round of the draft, it was going to be tough for Coleman to have a sizable role in 2018, but now he'll have an opportunity to attempt to carve out a role with another team. Coleman is six-foot-six with solid athleticism and a big catch radius. He shouldn't have any trouble finding a new team.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

The Saints re-signed wide receiver Brandon Coleman, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Coleman was a restricted free agent, but the Saints didn't place a tender on him. However, he's still returning to New Orleans to remain a part of Drew Brees' receiving corps. The Saints have added Cameron Meredith to the group, which could diminish Coleman's playing time, but he'll still chip in on offense as a big target that knows the offense. Coleman is currently only a fantasy option in very deep leagues.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

The Saints did not tender wide receiver Brandon Coleman.

The big receiver is now an unrestricted free agent and an intriguing option at the start of the new league year. A return to New Orleans is certainly a possibility, but we'll see what kind of interest Coleman gets as a free agent.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Brandon Coleman caught four passes for 44 yards in Sunday's playoff win.

Coleman also fumbled again after some ball-security issues showed up in December, but New Orleans recovered it. The big-bodied wideout will look to make some plays next week against the Vikings with Michael Thomas and the running backs set to receive plenty of attention.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Brandon Coleman loses two fumbles in win over the Jets.

Coleman caught three passes for 20 yards, but he fumbled twice in New York territory, essentially keeping them in the game. Fortunately for him, New Orleans held on, but his role could take a hit next week. He won't be a recommended fantasy option against Atlanta on Christmas Eve.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Brandon Coleman catches two passes in Week 14.

The big receiver was targeted three times against the Falcons, gaining 32 yards on his two receptions. Coleman has emerged as a reliable guy for Drew Brees and the Saints, but he's difficult to trust in fantasy lineups right now.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Brandon Coleman caught two passes for 28 yards in Sunday's win over the Panthers.

Coleman's production has dipped in recent weeks, but as Troy Aikman said on the FOX broadcast, he's turned into a really good player for the Saints, especially because he can step into all the receiver roles for Sean Payton's offense. You can keep him on the waiver wire for the fantasy playoffs, though.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Brandon Coleman gets two targets against the Redskins.

Coleman caught one pass for six yards in the Week 11 win, and he was also targeted on a pass deep down the field that was just slightly over his outstretched arms. Coleman is a key player for the Saints and will make some plays for them, but he's not a recommended fantasy option right now.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Brandon Coleman catches 30-yarder in Week 10.

Coleman was targeted four times against the Bills, catching the one pass that went for 30 yards. Look for the Saints to throw more next week against the Redskins, but Coleman isn't a recommended fantasy option despite his big play ability.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Brandon Coleman held to one reception in win over the Bucs.

It went for seven yards. New Orleans didn't have to push things in an eventual 30-10 victory that they controlled throughout. Coleman will make plays, but he can remain on the waiver wire as the Saints look to win their seventh-straight game next week in Buffalo.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Brandon Coleman runs for long reception in Week 8.

Coleman was targeted once in the game, but he made the most of it, catching a short pass in the flat and breaking a tackle before taking it up the sideline for 54 yards. It was the big receiver's longest reception of his career, as he galloped down the field and picked up a lot of ground with his huge strides. Drew Brees really seems to like Coleman, and he might be a top three receiver for the team along with Michael Thomas and Ted Ginn Jr. But he doesn't get enough work to be a reliable fantasy option yet.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Brandon Coleman finds the end zone in Week 7 win.

Coleman caught two passes for 31 yards, including a 22-yard touchdown in the third quarter. He was also targeted in the first half on a would-be touchdown, but Drew Brees didn't put enough on the throw and it was intercepted. Coleman a nice contributor for New Orleans, but he isn't a reliable fantasy option, especially if Willie Snead returns next week against Chicago.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Brandon Coleman catches two passes in Week 6.

Coleman was targeted four times, gaining 23 yards on his two receptions. He could've had a bigger day, as Drew Brees underthrew him on a shot to the end zone where he got behind the zone coverage—it would've been a score if Brees threw it up to the crossbar and let Coleman go up and get it. The big receiver will have some good weeks, but he's not a recommended fantasy option.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Brandon Coleman catches one pass in Week 4.

The big receiver caught a crossing route that he took for 31 yards. Coleman will certainly have some good weeks, but it's difficult to trust him in fantasy lineups. He'll be more helpful in real life than he will for your fantasy team for now.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Brandon Coleman finds the end zone in Week 3 win.

Coleman caught one pass, an 11-yard touchdown, as the Saints downed the Panthers 34-13. It was the big-bodied receiver's second-straight game with a score, but he will likely have a smaller role starting next week against Miami, as Willie Snead returns from his three-game suspension. Coleman can stay on the waiver wire.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Brandon Coleman scores in loss to the Patriots.

Coleman caught four passes for 82 yards, including a five-yard touchdown in the second quarter. The big-bodied receiver will have one more game in three-WR sets with Willie Snead suspended, but he doesn't need to be owned in fantasy leagues. The Saints are on the road to face Carolina next.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Brandon Coleman catches two passes for 13 yards in Week 1.

The big 6'6" receiver also had an opportunity on a low pass in the end zone from Drew Brees but couldn't pull it in. Coleman is a dynasty hold, but he's not a great fantasy option in re-draft leagues right now.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Brandon Coleman caught three passes for 23 yards in Thursday night's preseason game.

Coleman got work into the second half, but his roster spot should be safe as a big-bodied backup. New Orleans will play the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2 of the preseason.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Saints receiver Brandon Coleman has stood out to Sean Payton so far in training camp.

Payton was asked how Coleman is performing so far in camp, and he said Coleman has been doing very well and made a couple plays each day. Payton also said his big 6'6" receiver is "looks to be running well." The Saints head coach was asked particularly about Coleman when he made these comments, but he did also name Coleman again when asked if anyone stood out to him so far. With Brandin Cooks gone to New England, Coleman could be in line for a bigger role this year. The former Rutgers receiver has certainly shown flashes as a big, athletic guy through two seasons in the NFL. There's sleeper potential there in deeper leagues.

Coleman sees eight targets in Saints' loss.

With Michael Thomas out of the lineup, Brandon Coleman caught five passes for 47 yards in New Orleans' loss to Tampa Bay. He can stay on the waiver wire with Thomas potentially back and a tough matchup with Arizona on deck.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Coleman catches another short touchdown in Week 12.

It was a three-yard short post route off a play-action fake. Coleman was wide open. Despite the consecutive games with short touchdowns, Coleman should not be in your fantasy lineup.

Brandon Coleman | Free Agent WR

Coleman catches touchdown in Saints' loss.

It was his only catch and it went for nine yards. The second-year wideout has just one game with more than two catches this season. He should stay on waivers.
