Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

The Cardinals have placed Charles Clay on the PUP list.

Clay is dealing with a knee issue, which unfortunately has been common throughout his career. The veteran tight end should be ready to hit the practice field soon, though, and he can be taken off the PUP at any time. This probably gives Ricky Seals-Jones a leg up in the starting tight end competition for Arizona.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

The Cardinals have signed tight end Charles Clay.

Arizona is scooping up veteran free agents that have been released by other teams, as it looks like they're trying to re-stock the roster and attempt to immediately compete in Kliff Kingsbury's first season as head coach. Ricky Seals-Jones is set to become an exclusive rights free agent and will likely remain with the Cardinals, but Clay will provide more competition for the starting tight end spot at the very least. Kingsbury's offense will likely run through stars David Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald along with rising start Christian Kirk more so than the tight end position, though.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

The Bills have released Charles Clay.

Clay signed a five-year contract with Buffalo in 2015, but the team is moving on before the final year of the deal. Now 30, Clay had just 184 scoreless yards in 2018 and will get an opportunity to find a home before free agency begins. The Bills are a definite candidate to spend a Day 1 or Day 2 draft pick on a tight end for franchise quarterback Josh Allen.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay is inactive against the Patriots.

Clay looks to be a healthy scratch for Week 16, with Jason Croom drawing the start for Buffalo. Clay might be done with the Bills, but we'll see if he's active for the regular season finale next Sunday.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay held without a catch in win over the Lions.

He was targeted once. Clay should stay on the waiver wire for the fantasy championship.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay catches one pass in Week 13.

Clay gained nine yards on his lone receptions against the Dolphins. On Buffalo's final chance at the end of the game, Clay had a chance for a potential game-winning touchdown but couldn't come up with a deep pass while he was all alone in the end zone after a long scramble by Josh Allen. The pass was dying a bit on its way to Clay, but the veteran tight end probably should have come up with it—though it wasn't an easy play. Clay is difficult to trust in fantasy lineups next week against the Jets.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (hamstring) is active for Week 13.

Clay is in the lineup and starting for Buffalo, so he should be close to 100%. The veteran tight end isn't a highly-recommended TE1 option against the Dolphins.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday.

Clay has missed the last three games, but he might have a shot to return this week after he was limited the last three days in practice. The veteran tight end won't be a highly-recommended fantasy option if active, though.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (hamstring) is out for this week against the Jets.

The veteran tight end is week-to-week with his hamstring injury, and he does not need to be on fantasy rosters right now. Logan Thomas and Jason Croom will handle the snaps at tight end for Buffalo.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (hamstring) did not return against the Bears.

Clay was officially called questionable to return, but Logan Thomas and Jason Croom handled the tight end position for the Bills. Clay didn't have any catches before leaving, and now we just have to hope this isn't a multi-week injury.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (hamstring) is questionable to return against the Bears.

We'll update you as more information becomes available on the veteran tight end. Jason Croom and Logan Thomas will get more snaps in Clay's absence.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay catches three passes against the Patriots.

Clay gained 36 yards on his three receptions (six targets) in the Week 8 loss. It looked like the veteran tight end might have had a chance to make a relatively long catch early in the game, but he couldn't quite get his hands on it. Clay is not a highly-recommended TE1 option in fantasy lineups right now.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay catches three passes against the Colts.

Clay gained 14 yards on his three receptions, and he also lost a fumble in the Week 7 loss. The veteran tight end isn't a highly-recommended TE1 option.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay caught four passes for 20 yards in Sunday's loss to the Texans.

The Bills struggled to move the ball through the air in a 20-13 defeat, but Clay at least had an efficient day with a team-high four grabs on five targets. The veteran is a low-ceiling TE2 option for next week's matchup with the Colts.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay caught one pass in Sunday's win over the Titans.

It was a 12-yarder on his only target of the game. The veteran has just nine receptions for 99 yards through five weeks, so he is nothing more than a weekly desperation option that probably needs a score to be worth starting. Clay gets the Texans next Sunday.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (ankle) is officially active for Week 5.

Clay was a full participant in Friday's practice, so this was fully expected. The veteran tight end probably needs a score to deliver value in fantasy lineups.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (ankle) did not practice today.

This might be the same schedule as last week, with this Thursday practice acting as maintenance for the veteran tight end. Check back for Clay's official game status when it's released sometime tomorrow.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay leads Bills in Week 4 receiving.

Clay was targeted six times against Green Bay, catching four passes for 40 yards. The veteran tight end is toughing out a couple of injuries to play, but he doesn't seem to be too affected by the ailments. Clay is on pace for 32 receptions for 348 yards this season.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (shoulder/hip) is active for Week 4.

Clay is toughing out multiple injuries to play against the Packers. He's not a highly-recommended fantasy option, but his presence is good for Josh Allen and the Bills.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (shoulder/hip) is listed as questionable for Week 4.

Clay was limited, non-participant, and limited in Buffalo's three practices this week, and he might be a true game-time call. However, the veteran tight end has a history of playing through injuries, so we expect he'll be out there. Clay's status will be known by 11:30 AM ET on Sunday.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (shoulder, hip) did not practice on Thursday.

It's a downgrade after Clay got in a limited session on Wednesday, so the veteran seems on the wrong side of questionable for Sunday's game against the Packers. There are probably better fantasy options anyway, but Clay being out would hurt a Buffalo team that needs all the skill-position help they can get.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (shoulder/hip) was limited in practice.

Clay is expected to be ready to go for Sunday against the Packers, but we'll keep an eye on his practice status this week. The veteran tight end isn't a recommended starting option in standard-sized fantasy leagues.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay caught two passes for 18 yards in Sunday's win over Minnesota.

Tight ends are usually a good security blanket for young quarterbacks, but Josh Allen hasn't relied on Clay much through two starts with just four receptions and 47 yards. Perhaps the veteran will get going against Green Bay in Week 4, but he's nothing more than a borderline TE2.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay caught two passes for 29 yards in Sunday's loss to the Chargers.

Clay didn't record a catch in the opener, but he and Josh Allen connected a couple times in Week 2. The veteran will hopefully step up on an offense that needs playmakers, especially next week in Minnesota after the Vikings allowed 90+ yards to George Kittle and Jimmy Graham to open the season. He's worth a look as a TE2 option.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay caught three passes for 15 yards in Sunday's loss to Jacksonville.

Clay briefly left the game, but returned in the 10-3 defeat that ends Buffalo's season. The veteran tight end probably won't be a TE1 option in 2018, but a potential quarterback change in Buffalo might make a difference.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (hamstring) is back in the game for the Bills.

Clay only missed a few snaps and is thankfully back in there against the Jags. He'll step right back in as a key target for Tyrod Taylor was Buffalo looks to advance to the Divisional Round.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (hamstring) leaves playoff game against Jacksonville.

Clay is officially questionable to return, and hopefully he's able to return for Buffalo's sake. While Clay is out, it'll be Nick O'Leary and Logan Thomas at tight end for the Bills.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay leads team in receiving as Bills snap 17-year playoff drought.

Clay caught six passes for 64 yards in a 22-16 win over Miami. The veteran missed three games with a knee injury, but he finished with 49 receptions for 558 yards and two scores in the regular season. He will look to help upset the Jags next Sunday in Jacksonville.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay caught four passes or 37 yards in Sunday's loss to New England.

Clay has still remained without a touchdown since returning from his knee injury, and that was seven weeks ago. He will look to return to the end zone next Sunday against the Dolphins, but he won't be much more than a TE2 option in the fantasy championship.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay leads the Bills in Week 15 receiving.

The Dolphins are susceptible to opposing tight ends more so than the other positions on offense, and the Bills took advantage of it. Clay was targeted a team-high nine times, catching five passes for 68 yards in the victory. His next opponent, New England, took Clay away in Week 13, so there are probably better TE1 options for the first week of the fantasy championship next week.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay gets five targets in Week 14.

Clay caught two passes for 11 yards, and it could've been a better day if not for the snowy conditions which led to some just-misses to him. Clay will be a good option in lineups next week against the Dolphins.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay held to three receptions for 20 yards in loss to the Patriots.

Clay had four receptions for 60 yards last week against Kansas City, but he's now been held out of the end zone each game since returning from injury and is averaging just 30 yards per game over the past four. There are better options to consider for the fantasy playoffs.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay catches all four targets in Week 12.

Clay led the Bills in receiving in the close win over the Chiefs, gaining 60 yards on his four receptions, including a long of 33 yards. Clay next faces a Patriots team that's been tough against opposing tight ends over the last several weeks and held Clay in check last season. He's still in the TE1 discussion for the game, though.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (knee) is active versus Kansas City.

Clay was limited in practice during the week and listed as questionable, but he was expected to play in the Week 12 matchup. Consider Clay more of a TE2, as the Chiefs have done a great job defending tight ends this season.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay catches three passes against the Chargers.

Clay gained 27 yards on his three receptions (four targets) in the Week 11 loss, though he did have a touchdown called back on a pass interference call and then dropped a pass in the end zone. He hasn't had quite the role he did early in the season when he started great before the knee injury, but Clay is probably working his way back into things. With a tough matchup coming up versus the Chiefs, it might be best to keep Clay out of your lineup for now.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (knee) is active against the Chargers.

Clay played last week, but he was still listed as questionable for this game with some concern about whether he’d suit up today. Now that he’s officially active, you can insert him into your lineup as a back-end TE1 or a streaming option versus Los Angeles.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (knee) is questionable for Sunday.

After he returned to action last week and appeared to be fine, it'd be a surprise if Clay wasn't out there against the Chargers. Remember, there's no "probable" designation anymore, so questionable is used more frequently on injury reports today. The Bills play at 4:05 PM ET against the Chargers, so just double check to make sure Clay is active at around 2:30 PM ET on Sunday.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay catches two passes against the Saints.

Clay's return after missing a month with a knee injury didn't go as expected, with his team getting blown out by New Orleans. Personally, Clay gained 13 yards on his two receptions in the game. With a matchup against a Chargers team that's been good against opposing tight ends this season, consider Clay only a backend TE1 or streaming option in Week 11.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (knee) is officially actie for Week 10.

Clay was trending in the right direction after missing over a month with a knee injury, and he'll be on the field today against the Saints. Kelvin Benjamin might put a slight dent into Clay's fantasy value, but he's still a backend TE1 in his first game back.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (knee) is officially questionable for Week 10.

Clay practiced on a limited basis all week and it looks like he will indeed make his return after missing over a month. The presence of new wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin could put a dent into Clay's target share, but he's worth a pickup if he's available in your league and you need help at tight end. Clay's status against New Orleans will be certain by 11:30 ET on Sunday morning.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (knee) is officially out for Week 9.

This was fully expected, as the Bills play on a short week tomorrow night. Clay remains week-to-week, and Week 10 seems like a very good possibility, considering it'd be over a month since he injured the knee. However, Clay might not have as big of a role when he returns because of the Bills' acquisition of wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin at the trade deadline.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay (knee) will miss several weeks.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott says Clay underwent a knee scope. Clay was Tyrod Taylor's best target this season, so this is obviously a huge loss for the Bills. It's possible Clay goes on Injured Reserve with the possibility to return after eight weeks. With his return this season very uncertain, Clay can be dropped in fantasy leagues.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay leaves game with apparent leg injury.

Clay appeared to take a shot to the knee after a catch, and he went down on the sideline and could barely walk over to the medical tent. If we had to guess, we would say Clay's day is done, which would be a terrible loss for Buffalo. He had two receptions for 31 yards before leaving.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay keeps it going in win against the Falcons.

Clay caught five passes for 112 yards, both of which were game highs. He's now on pace for an impressive 72 catches for 908 yards and eight scores in 2017, and it's time to take him seriously as a TE1 option. The Bills take on the Bengals in Week 5.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay caught six passes for 39 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Broncos.

Clay found himself wide open for a six-yard score on a Tyrod Taylor scramble, and he's now scored twice in three games. With the Bills lacking playmakers on the perimeter, Clay has been a solid option for Taylor over the middle. He is a streaming option heading into Week 4, as Buffalo will need to score points to keep up with Atlanta.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay caught three passes for 23 yards in Sunday's loss to Carolina.

Clay and the rest of the Bills offensive options struggled to do anything against the Panthers, and while they don't have a much easier matchup in Week 3 against the Broncos, Clay might be worth a look for those in need of help at tight end. Jason Witten just had a 10/97/1 line against Denver.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay leads Buffalo in targets in Week 1.

Clay had nine targets against the Jets, catching four of them for 53 yards and a touchdown. The 28-year-old tight end had a long of 35 yards in the game, and the touchdown came on a one-yard pass from Tyrod Taylor. The Bills are going to establish the running game again this season, so Clay should have opportunities on play-action passes. He gets the Panthers next Sunday.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay caught four passes for 47 yards against the Ravens on Saturday night.

Clay has probably been underutilized so far in his Bills career, but things might change this year with Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods gone. Still, he is no more than a streaming option in deeper leagues. The veteran will probably be done until the regular season.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay caught three passes for 16 yards in Thursday night's exhibition.

Clay had a nice stretch at the end of 2017, but even with Sammy Watkins now gone, he probably won't be a tight end worth targeting in fantasy drafts. The Bills play Baltimore next preseason game.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Bills head coach Sean McDermott says the team is concerned about Charles Clay's "knee situation."

Clay has had knee concerns throughout his career, and reportedly had it drained multiple times. McDermott says the team will manage his reps to keep Clay healthy. While there is concern for Clay's knees, he can still be a productive player and make people forget about the concerns. Clay will be a solid TE2 this season.

Charles Clay makes it three in a row with a score.

Charles Clay had a great day in buffalo securing eight catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns, bringing his touchdown streak to three games in a row. Clay’s size and speed made him a matchup nightmare for Miami as he was targeted a team high ten times. Clay, much like Watkins, has been slowed due to injuries this year and will look to bounce back in 2017. He's come on very strong toward the end of the season.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay scores again in Week 15.

Clay had seven catches for 72 yards and a touchdown. He was wide open in the endzone for the touchdown, and Tyrod Taylor nearly under throw him but Clay went down and got it for six. He's had back-to-back games with scores and has been more involved in the last two weeks, but he's not a good fantasy option unless you are really hurting at tight end.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay caught three passes for 52 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Steelers.

The score was Clay's first of the season, and the yards were his most since Week 5. Clay is unlikely to find the end zone again this season. He can stay on the waiver wire.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Clay has another quiet game in Week 12 victory.

He caught two passes for 17 yards. Even with Sammy Watkins return, things didn't open up for Clay to make an impact. Clay's not a fantasy option.

Charles Clay | Free Agent TE

Charles Clay caught five passes for just 23 yards in Sunday’s win over the Bengals.

Clay has yet to score in 2016 and has games of just six yards, nine yards, and yesterday’s 23 yards over his past three games. Even with the Bills having almost nothing at wide receiver, Clay can stay on the waiver wire.
