WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Chris Warren | Free Agent RB

The Raiders waived Chris Warren.

This is a bit of a surprise after Oakland essentially stashed Warren on injured reserve last season after he led the NFL in rushing during the preseason. This move probably came down to either the Raiders being unimpressed with how Warren reported to camp or the team deciding to give him an opportunity to win a bigger role with another team after drafting running back Josh Jacobs in the first round of this year's draft. Warren doesn't need to be kept in dynasty leagues at the moment, but he's worth having on the end of your bench if you have roster space.

Chris Warren trained with a former MMA champion this offseason.

Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal writes that Warren trained with former champion Guy Mezger for a few weeks in the offseason, and Mezger came away extremely impressed. Mezger told Gehklen that Warren is "absolutely amazing" as an athlete, and that "if I had 10 Chris Warrens, I'd rule the world." There's been some talk about concerns over Warren's weight (he finished his college career at Texas as a tight end), but it certainly sounds like he's trained very hard this offseason. The league's leading rusher last preseason as an undrafted rookie, Warren has impressive athletic ability at six-foot-two and over 225 pounds with a sub-4.70 40 time and violent, downhill running style. We'll see if the Raiders add a running back high in this month's draft, but Warren should probably be picked up where available in dynasty leagues.

Chris Warren is undergoing knee surgery.

The Raiders placed the undrafted rookie running back on injured reserve earlier today, and it's for a serious knee injury that requires surgery. Warren will now rehab and attempt to carve out a role in the Raiders backfield in 2019. He is a recommended dynasty-league hold, as there's a chance the running back group undergoes some changes with veterans Marshawn Lynch and Doug Martin in the mix this season.

The Raiders placed Chris Warren on injured reserve.

The undrafted rookie running back is dealing with an undisclosed injury, and this placement on IR could have been so the Raiders ensure they did not lose him to another team on waivers. Warren impressed during the preseason.
