WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Devin Smith | Panthers WR

Devin Smith is signing with the Panthers practice squad, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Smith is a familiar name for Sam Darnold as a former second-round pick of the Jets, so perhaps that connection will be something that clicks in practice. The deep threat can also be insurance for Robby Anderson.

The Texans signed Devin Smith to the practice squad.

Smith fits the mold of some of the other receivers Houston currently has on the active roster, so he could step into the lineup as an interesting deep threat at some point this season.

The Cowboys signed Devin Smith to a reserve/future contract.

Smith has had about as bad of injury luck as possible since being drafted in the second round (37th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft. Smith suffered two torn ACLs to the same knee in 2015 and 2017, and he's appeared in just 14 games since being drafted in 2015 (ten games as a rookie and four games in 2016). Smith will turn 27 this offseason, and hopefully his luck will turn and he can stay healthy while attempting to carve out a role for Dallas moving forward.

The Jets are releasing former second-round receiver Devin Smith, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Smith was a 2015 second-round pick of the Jets, but his career has unfortunately been derailed by injuries. As a rookie, Smith tore his ACL in Week 14 and then started the 2016 season on the PUP and was limited to four games that season. Then, Smith tore his ACL to the same knee during last offseason. Smith has played in 14 games, catching ten passes for 135 yards and a touchdown. Despite not playing since 2016, Smith is a talented deep threat and should get another chance with another team. Hopefully he can get to 100% and stay there as he attempts to have a long NFL career.

Devin Smith has cleared waivers, will remain with the Jets.

Smith will spend the year on injured reserve as he rehabs from his second ACL tear in two seasons. We wish Smith well in his recovery, and hope he can have some luck swing his way starting next year.

The Jets waived/injured 2015 second round pick Devin Smith.

The move was made to make room on the 90-man roster for receiver Deshon Foxx. Smith suffered an ACL tear earlier this offseasaon, his second straight year with an ACL tear. The deep threat will now hit waivers, and we'd think someone will claim him. If not, Smith will be on injured reserve with the Jets.

Jets receiver Devin Smith tore hire ACL for the second time three seasons, the team announced.

During Jets' training, Smith tore the same ACL he tore as a rookie in 2015. It's very unfortunate for Smith, who can't catch a break so far in his career. Smith will only be able to appear in 14 games through his three NFL seasons.
