WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Drew Stanton | Buccaneers QB

The Buccaneers are signing Drew Stanton to the practice squad, according to FOX's Peter Schrager.

Stanton has a history with Bruce Arians from their time together in Arizona, so Tampa Bay gets another experienced arm after losing Josh Rosen to the 49ers.

The Browns have placed Drew Stanton (knee) on injured reserve.

Stanton was active for Week 1 and did not play, but he apparently was dealing with a knee injury entering the season, so Cleveland is placing him on IR to open up a roster spot. Barring injury, Garrett Gilbert will probably be the only quarterback behind Baker Mayfield on the active roster for the rest of the year.

The Browns signed quarterback Drew Stanton.

The 33-year-old former Cardinals and Lions quarterback is a great addition to a Cleveland quarterback group that's likely to add a rookie franchise signal-caller with one of their two top-five picks in next month's draft. From a fantasy perspective, this move doesn't have a big impact, as Stanton is likely to only be a real-life contributor for Cleveland as a good mentor and veteran presence.

Drew Stanton | Buccaneers QB

Drew Stanton has been playing with a torn ACL.

Larry Fitzgerald made the announcement on Twitter because of how proud he is of the toughness Stanton shows by playing with the injury. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says Stanton has actually been playing with the injury for years, and that his ACL isn't even there anymore—but that he knows how to "manage" it. So this probably won't have any affect on Stanton moving forward, but it's quite the story nonetheless. Stanton is set to become a free agent this offseason.

Drew Stanton helps lead Cardinals to Week 17 win over Seattle.

In what appears to be the last game for Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians, the Cardinals sent him out with an awesome win to bring their record to 8-8 on the season. Stanton was 15/34 for 145 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the victory, with the touchdown going to Jaron Brown on a 25-yard pass on a crossing route in the end zone. The quarterback situation is very much up in the air for the Cardinals for 2018, but Stanton will certainly have a role on some team somewhere.

Drew Stanton | Buccaneers QB

Drew Stanton helps lead Arizona to a Week 16 win.

Stanton was 20/34 for 209 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the Christmas Eve win over the Giants. He's not a recommended fantasy option next week against the Seahawks, but Stanton will get another crack in the starting lineup in the season finale.

Drew Stanton | Buccaneers QB

Drew Stanton will start for the Cardinals in Week 16.

While Blaine Gabbert has shown some major flashes over his five games as the starter, he's regressed a bit recently—including a 39% completion percentage yesterday against the Redskins. Now Stanton, who's played pretty well when given opportunities with the Cardinals, will get another chance as the starter. With Carson Palmer's status up in the air for 2018, it'll be interesting to see how the quarterbacks play over the final two weeks of the season.

Drew Stanton | Buccaneers QB

Drew Stanton has a chance to play this week.

Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said Stanton has "made more progress than expected" and will have a chance to play on Sunday against Houston. However, Blaine Gabbert took the majority of first-team snaps in today's practice, so he's the favorite to be the starter right now. Arians says he'll probably make the decision on the team's starter by Friday. Whoever is under center shouldn't affect the fantasy value of Larry Fitzgerald and others in the receiving group too much.

Drew Stanton | Buccaneers QB

Drew Stanton sprained his knee in Thursday night’s loss to the Seahawks.

Stanton played through the injury, but according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, he could miss Week 11. If he can’t go, the Cardinals would start former first-round pick Blaine Gabbert at quarterback. We’ll see what happens leading up to next Sunday, but the Adrian Peterson, Larry Fitzgerald, and other fantasy options won’t be impacted much if Stanton is out.

Drew Stanton | Buccaneers QB

Drew Stanton throws one touchdown in Cardinals' Thursday night loss.

Stanton was 24/47 for 273 yards and one touchdown against the Seahawks, and he took a lot of hits throughout the night. He definitely wasn't afraid to take shots down the field, but Stanton did miss a couple of the deep throws—though receiver J.J. Nelson did have what could be classified as a drop on a would-be touchdown at the end of the first half. Stanton should not be in your fantasy lineup in standard leagues for Week 11 against the Texans.

Drew Stanton | Buccaneers QB

Drew Stanton was 15/30 for 201 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in Sunday's 20-10 win over the 49ers.

Stanton got things going early with a 52-yard pass to John Brown on the first play of the game, and Arizona had Adrian Peterson carry them the rest of the way. The Cardinals will continue to feed Peterson until Carson Palmer's hopefully return, including on Thursday night against Seattle. Stanton obviously isn't a fantasy option.

Drew Stanton | Buccaneers QB

Drew Stanton struggles in relief of Carson Palmer.

Palmer went down with a broken left arm, and Stanton had to come into a tough situation with the Rams defense flying around in London. Stanton was 5/14 for 62 yards and an interception, with the interception going right to Rams linebacker/safety Mark Barron. Stanton will be the starter moving forward, but he's only a deep streaming option when the Cardinals emerge from their bye week.

Drew Stanton | Buccaneers QB

Drew Stanton throws touchdown in preseason win over Oakland.

After he and Carson Palmer didn't play in the Hall of Fame Game, Stanton played behind Palmer against the Raiders and played very well. He was 11/15 for 112 yards and a touchdown. Despite Blaine Gabbert joining Arizona, Stanton is locked in as the second quarterback for the team.
