WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Elijah Hood | Jaugars RB

The Jaguars signed Elijah Hood.

It's nice to see Hood sign after he was cut by the Panthers to clear a roster spot the day he reported to training camp there. The 2017 seventh-rounder will look to put some good play on film as he attempts to make Jacksonville's 53-man roster.

The Panthers placed Elijah Hood on injured reserve.

Hood injured his knee in the team's final preseason game. If the injury isn't a season-ender, perhaps the second-year back and the team will reach an injury settlement that allows him to sign with another team.

Elijah Hood (knee) is out for the rest of tonight's preseason game.

Unfortunately, injuries are piling up quickly tonight. Hopefully Hood's injury isn't serious.

Raiders seventh round running back Elijah Hood "turned heads of the offensive staff" at rookie minicamp, according to MMQB's Albert Breer.

Hood is out of North Carolina and wasn't drafted until the seventh round likely because a decrease in carries as a junior. The Raiders might have gotten a steal, as Hood produces. As a true sophomore, Hood ran for over 1,400 yards and 17 touchdowns and looked like a potential Day 2 pick in the draft. Hood is looking like a good bet to make the team, and he could take over for Marshawn Lynch as the lead back when Lynch retires. This season, he might be the primary backup for Lynch, although second-year backs Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington are also in the mix and received a good amount of playing time as rookies last season.

The Raiders select UNC running back Elijah Hood with the 242nd pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Hood looks the part of an NFL running back, but he battled injuries as a junior at North Carolina and saw a decrease in production. As a sophomore, Hood was a beast, rushing for 1,463 yards and 17 touchdowns on just 218 carries. He decided to forego his senior season and enter the draft after his junior season. Hood can also pass block better than many backs, and will try to make the Raiders as the fourth running back.
