WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Henry Ruggs III | Free Agent WR

The Raiders have released Henry Ruggs III.

Ruggs was charged with felony DUI for tragically killing someone while driving under the influence, and the Raiders have all the information needed to release the 2020 first-round pick. On the field, the team will move forward with Bryan Edwards as their No. 1 wide receiver.

Henry Ruggs III charged with DUI resulting death.

This is incredibly sad news all around, as Ruggs driving under the influence cost someone their life, which is obviously a lot more impactful than any legal and/or league ramifications. The second-year wideout was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, but the charge obviously puts his immediate and future playing status in serious question. The Raiders take on the Giants in Week 9.

Henry Ruggs III has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Ruggs III will be out on Thursday night, which is a big loss for the Las Vegas offense as they hope to get back on track in the playoff race. Fellow rookie Bryan Edwards could see more snaps alongside starters Nelson Agholor and Hunter Renfrow.

Henry Ruggs III (knee/hamstring) is officially active against the Chiefs.

After missing the past two games with knee and hamstring issues, Ruggs is officially back in the lineup for the Raiders. The first-round rookie receiver is an interesting pickup if he happens to be available in your league.

Henry Ruggs III (knee/hamstring) is officially listed as questionable for Week 5.

Ruggs practiced fully the past two days, so we expect that he'll be fine for Sunday against the Chiefs. But check back Sunday morning to ensure that the dynamic rookie receiver is active if you're planning to give him a shot in your lineup this weekend.

Henry Ruggs III (knee/hamstring) was officially a full participant in today's practice.

It looks like Ruggs will be good to go for this Sunday against the Chiefs, but the final Week 5 injury report will make his status official tomorrow.

Henry Ruggs III (hamstring) was officially limited in today's practice.

A limited practice to start the week is a great sign for the dynamic rookie receiver, and the Raiders could certainly use him as they look to keep up with the Chiefs this Sunday. We'll track Ruggs' practice status throughout the week.

Henry Ruggs III (hamstring) is officially inactive against the Bills.

This is Ruggs’ second consecutive missed game with his hamstring issue, and he should be considered week-to-week. Nelson Agholor and Hunter Renfrow will likely lead the Raiders’ receiving corps in Week 4.

Henry Ruggs III (hamstring) is officially doubtful for Week 4.

Ruggs was reportedly going to miss this Sunday against the Bills, but the Raiders are leaving him an opportunity to make a push to play. In all likelihood, the dynamic rookie receiver will be ruled out this weekend, though.

Henry Ruggs III (hamstring/knee) has been ruled out for Week 3.

In addition to the knee issue, this hamstring injury will keep Ruggs out of an anticipated matchup against the Patriots. Hopefully the electric rookie receiver can get back on the field soon. Nelson Agholor will step into more of a full-time role with Ruggs out.

Henry Ruggs III (knee) is officially active for Monday night.

Ruggs isn’t quite at 100% while dealing with the knee injury suffered during his NFL debut in Week 1, but the dynamic rookie receiver was not going to miss the home opener in Las Vegas. Given his big-play ability, Ruggs is on the FLEX radar in a game with shootout potential.

Henry Ruggs III (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Week 2.

Ruggs is expected to be good to go against the Saints, but be sure to have a backup plan from the Monday night game if you're planning to use the dynamic rookie receiver in your lineup.

Henry Ruggs III (knee) officially did not practice today.

Ruggs also missed yesterday's practice, so it's time to be concerned about his status for Monday night against the Saints. We'll let you know how the explosive rookie receiver is listed on the final Week 2 injury report when it's released sometime tomorrow.

Henry Ruggs III impresses in NFL debut.

Ruggs led the Raiders in Week 1 receiving, catching three passes for 55 yards against the Panthers, including a near-touchdown on a slightly underthrown deep ball where he came just short of the pylon. It looked like it was going to be a huge afternoon for Ruggs, but he had his leg rolled up on, missed some time, and couldn't really get much going when he returned. The good news is Ruggs was able to come back from the leg injury, and he looks like a legit difference-maker in Jon Gruden's offense. He should at least be a boom/bust FLEX play as a rookie, with the upside for more.

Henry Ruggs III (knee) has returned for the Raiders.

Ruggs is toughing out his first-half knee injury and is back in there in the second half for Las Vegas. The rookie receiver has already shown he can take the top off the defense and make gamebreaking plays in Jon Gruden's offense.

Henry Ruggs III (knee) is officially questionable to return for the Raiders.

Ruggs had his leg twisted up on and was in obvious pain on the sidelines before limping to the locker room. The electric first-round rookie is off to an exceptional start to his career early against the Panthers, so hopefully he's able to get back on the field soon. We'll update you as more information becomes available.

The Raiders have selected Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs III with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

We are as high on Ruggs III as anyone from a real-life perspective, but fantasy owners should temper expectations a bit—particularly early on while he develops as a route runner. Still, the Alabama speedster will immediately rival Tyreek Hill and others as the fastest player in the league, and anyone who evaluated him as a prospect knows he is very tough and has natural receiving skills (in other words, he isn’t just a one-trick pony). Just to put the speed and big-play potential into perspective, Ruggs III saw exactly 100 offensive touches at Alabama… and scored on 25 of them. You can read Ruggs' full scouting report in the link below. This is obviously a typical type of selection for the Raiders, and Ruggs will be a ton of fun in Vegas (in the same division as the aforementioned Hill). The Raiders have a very impressive receiving corps with Ruggs, Tyrell Williams, Nelson Agholor, Hunter Renfrow, and tight end Darren Waller.
