WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Javon Wims | Raiders WR

The Raiders are signing Javon Wims to the practice squad.

The former Bears receiver is another potential big body on the outside for Las Vegas. He'll start on the practice squad with the hope of working his way to the active roster at some point this season.

Javon Wims | Raiders WR

The Bears released Javon Wims.

Wims fell out of favor a bit in Chicago last season, but the former Georgia Bulldog has the size to compete for a role on the outside for another team. We'll see where Wims lands, but it's probably unlikely that he makes much of a fantasy impact in 2021 at this point.

Javon Wims | Raiders WR

The NFL upheld Javon Wims' two-game suspension.

While Wims' actions were retaliation against Saints defensive back Chauncey Gardner-Johnson pulling out his mouthpiece first (and Wims claims CGJ also spit on him), this is not a surprise. You can't throw punches in middle of an NFL game. Wims will miss the next two games against the Titans and Vikings.

Javon Wims | Raiders WR

The NFL is suspending Javon Wims for two games.

Wims punched Saints defensive back Chauncey Gardner-Johnson in the helmet on Sunday, and he was ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct. The former Georgia standout is appealing, but it would be a surprise if the suspension was reduced. The absence of Wims could give Riley Ridley a chance to be active on game day as the No. 4 receiver in Matt Nagy's offense.

Javon Wims | Raiders WR

Javon Wims (knee) is officially questionable to return tonight.

Wims appeared to have his knee bent awkwardly when going up and trying to high-point a pass in the end zone at the end of the first half. He was in obvious pain and was on the ground for a bit, but he limped over to the sideline under his own power. Hopefully Wims is able to return tonight, but it's probably more likely that he's held out.

Javon Wims | Raiders WR

Javon Wims caught four passes for 32 yards in Sunday's win over the Vikings.

Wims brought in all of his targets for the first grabs of his career. The rookie is a promising possession receiver that played in big games at Georgia, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him stay involved next week against the Eagles, especially with the rest of the receiving corps seemingly banged up.

Javon Wims | Raiders WR

The Bears have selected Georgia wide receiver Javon Wims with the 224th pick (seventh round) of the 2018 NFL Draft.

There are some really solid receivers left on the board, and Chicago takes one of them in Wims. The six-foot-three wideout has great ball skills on the perimeter and can adjust his body to haul in difficult catches. He has a good opportunity to earn a role behind Allen Robinson, Anthony Miller, and Taylor Gabriel on an offense that should take a huge step in 2018, but it probably won't lead to any fantasy value as a rookie.
