WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Lee Smith | Falcons TE

The Falcons are acquiring Lee Smith.

Atlanta is sending Buffalo a late-round pick in 2022, presumably a conditional pick. New Falcons head coach Arthur Smith wants to be able to run the ball, and Lee will help them do that as an extra blocker that can chip in as an occasional pass catcher.

Lee Smith | Falcons TE

The Bills signed Lee Smith to a three-year contract.

Smith spent the first four years of his NFL career in Buffalo before spending his last four years in Oakland, but now he's back where he started with the Bills. It's surprising that Smith is getting a three-year deal, but he'll be a key player as a run blocker and pass protector for Buffalo. Smith isn't likely to have much fantasy value in 2019.

Lee Smith | Falcons TE

The Raiders are releasing tight end Lee Smith, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Smith was a great locker room presence that defended quarterback Derek Carr against media criticism last season. He’ll be missed by the Raiders in real life, but his release doesn’t have much of a fantasy impact.

Lee Smith | Falcons TE

Lee Smith scores against the Steelers.

Smith caught one pass for three yards and a touchdown in the Raiders’ Week 14 win. Smith is a better real-life contributor than he is a fantasy asset at the moment.

Lee Smith | Falcons TE

Lee Smith scores in Week 13.

Smith caught a one-yard touchdown off a play-action fake where he got wide-open in the end zone for his lone reception of the game. He nearly dropped the ball, but he bobbled it up quickly and calmly secured the catch. This was Smith's first score of 2018, and the veteran tight end is more of a real-life contributor than fantasy asset.

Lee Smith | Falcons TE

Lee Smith caught two passes for 39 yards in Sunday's loss to the Ravens.

Smith was second on the team in yards, but he remains mostly a blocker behind Jared Cook. The Raiders will try to upset the Chiefs in Week 13.

Lee Smith | Falcons TE

Lee Smith catches two passes in Week 11.

Smith gained six yards on his two receptions versus Arizona. Smith is more of a run-blocker that contributes in real life than he is a fantasy option.

Lee Smith | Falcons TE

Lee Smith caught three passes for 23 yards in Sunday's win over Cleveland.

Smith is mostly a blocker as Oakland's No. 2 tight end. He can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Lee Smith | Falcons TE

The Raiders are re-signing tight end Lee Smith, according to Tom Pelissero.

Smith is mainly used a blocker for the Raiders, and he will be back in what should be a similar role in 2018. It would be a surprise if Smith delivered fantasy value this season, and he'll be more of a real-life contributor to the real team in Oakland.

Lee Smith | Falcons TE

Lee Smith catches two passes against the Eagles.

Smith gained 16 yards on his two receptions, and he did have a bad holding penalty that brought back a nice run by the Raiders. Smith isn't a recommended fantasy option right now.

Lee Smith | Falcons TE

Lee Smith catches one pass against the Cowboys.

Smith gained three yards on his lone reception and is not a recommended fantasy option at the moment.

Lee Smith | Falcons TE

Lee Smith catches one pass against the Bills.

Smith made a very nice 21-yard catch on an post-type of route that he caught to set Oakland up at the one-yard line. He's a contributor for the Raiders, but Smith is not a recommended fantasy option.

Lee Smith | Falcons TE

Lee Smith catches 19-yard touchdown in preseason loss.

Smith's score came in the first quarter from Derek Carr, and he finished with two catches for 25 yards. With so many mouths to feed on the Oakland offense, including Jared Cook and Clive Walford at his own position, Lee isn't a fantasy option.
