The Raiders re-signed Marcell Ateman.
Ateman is back on the active roster instead of the practice squad, as he's taking J.J. Nelson's spot after the team parted ways with the speedy receiver. Ateman is not a redraft option yet, but he's someone to keep an eye on. Oakland is currently on their bye week.
The Raiders have waived Marcell Ateman.
Atman is being waived to make room for recently acquired wide receiver Zay Jones. Expect Ateman to land on Oakland's practice squad again if he clears waivers.
The Raiders signed Marcell Ateman to the active roster.
Ateman gives Oakland a big-bodied presence at receiver, and this move might indicate that there’s pessimism about the status of Tyrell Williams (foot) for tomorrow’s game in London. For fantasy purposes, Ateman is just a dynasty league option for now.
Raiders GM Mike Mayock says Marcell Ateman is the team's X receiver.
As of today, the big second-year receiver from Oklahoma State is set to enter 2019 as a starter on the outside for Oakland, but Mayock noted the team is looking to add competition (as should be and is the case with the entire roster). Mayock said "we think we can get faster, more athletic." Jordy Nelson and Ateman are the early favorites to be the team's top two wide receivers next season, but the Raiders are certainly going to address the position in free agency and/or the draft. They have four of the first 35 picks in the draft, and there's probably a decent chance they target a receiver with one of those picks. Either way, Ateman must be owned in all dynasty leagues as a potential double-digit touchdown threat in Jon Gruden's offense.
Marcell Ateman catches one pass in Week 17 loss.
It went for seven yards. Ateman's rookie campaign ends with 15 receptions for 154 yards and a touchdown, and he should have a chance to carve out a role in Jon Gruden's offense next summer.
Marcell Atman catches two passes in Week 15.
Atman gained 20 yards on his two receptions versus Cincinnati. The rookie receiver remains more of a good dynasty-league hold, but he'll look to do some damage against the Broncos on Christmas Eve. It'll likely take a touchdown for him to deliver fantasy value in title matchups.
Marcell Ateman catches three passes against the Steelers.
Ateman gained 45 yards on his three receptions in the Raiders' Week 14 victory. His best catch of the day was a 28-yarder on a deep ball where he made a nice catch on a dime from Derek Carr. The rookie receiver has some upside as a potential option in deeper fantasy leagues next week versus the Bengals.
Marcell Ateman scores first NFL touchdown against the Chiefs.
Ateman caught two passes for 16 yards and a touchdown in the Raiders' Week 13 loss. The score came on a high-point catch in the end zone, where the big former Oklahoma State receiver excels. The rookie also nearly had a spectacular catch in the back of the end zone on an absolute dime from Derek Carr, but he couldn't quite hold on. Ateman will look to build on this heading into the final four games of the season. He remains a very good dynasty-league hold.
Marcell Ateman caught three passes for 16 yards in Sunday's loss to the Ravens.
Ateman saw a healthy ten targets, suggesting the seventh-round pick could be a big factor down the stretch for the 2-9 Raiders. The matchup was tough in Week 12, but the Chiefs present a much better opponent next week, and Ateman is worth considering in all leagues as a big-bodied target with some craftiness that was likely overlooked earlier this year.
Marcell Ateman plays well in NFL debut.
With the Raiders hit by multiple injuries, Ateman was active for the first time in his career. He didn’t appear to get much playing time until Brandon Lafell left with an Achilles injury, but the rookie took advantage of his opportunity and played well in the fourth quarter. He caught all four of his passes in the final period, gaining 50 yards to help the Raiders pull out their second win of the season. The highlight for Ateman was probably his 32-yard reception on a deep ball down the left sideline. As we’ve been indicating, the future looks bright for the Oklahoma State product. He remains an excellent dynasty-league hold and might deliver some FLEX value down the stretch this season.
Marcell Ateman has been promoted to the Raiders practice squad.
The team just traded Amari Cooper yesterday, and this could open the door for the rookie from Oklahoma State to get solid playing time down the stretch. Jon Gruden has already said he likes Ateman during the summer, and the big-bodied receiver is a very intriguing hold in dynasty leagues. Keep an eye on him for redraft leagues, too.
The Raiders signed Marcell Ateman to the practice squad.
The seventh-round rookie was impressive all summer, but it wasn't enough to make the final roster. However, he'll remain with Oakland on the practice squad. Ateman doesn't have standard-league fantasy value while he's currently off the 53-man roster, but he's an intriguing dynasty-league stash.
The Raiders waived Marcell Ateman, according to Michael Gehlken.
This one is a bit of a surprise, as Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said that he likes the rookie receiver from Oklahoma State. Oakland is almost certainly trying to sneak the sixth-rounder onto the practice squad, but there's a chance he's claimed by one of the other 31 teams.
Marcell Ateman has been a "go-to target for all three of the quarterbacks throughout camp," according to the team's official site.
Writer Kyle Martin was discussing players he believes can make the 53-man roster, and he continued about Ateman: "He offers a special combination of size and athleticism, which helps him create separation from his defenders." That sounds a lot like what we thought of the rookie in the pre-draft process, as he's a big-bodied receiver that can still run really good routes to get open, but he somehow dropped to the seventh round before Oakland scooped him up. The Oklahoma State product is still a longshot to offer redraft value this year, but with Martavis Bryant struggling and Gruden previously saying that "Ateman makes plays every day," there is definitely a chance he works his way all the way up to the No. 3 spot on the depth chart with a strong preseason. Dynasty owners would be wise to target Ateman before others catch on to him.
Jon Gruden says he likes Marcell Ateman.
Gruden is generally a very positive person and likes a lot of players, but he sounds genuinely intrigued by Ateman: "I like Ateman. Ateman makes plays every day." Gruden went on to say that quarterback Derek Carr called an audible on one play and gave the rookie receiver an opportunity to win a one-on-one situation—which he did. We thought Ateman should have been drafted a lot higher than the seventh round, but the Raiders might have gotten a gem. Ateman might not make a huge impact in 2018 if Amari Cooper, Jordy Nelson, and Martavis Bryant all stay healthy (and in Bryant's case, unsuspended), but he's at least an intriguing dynasty-league option right now.
The Raiders have selected Oklahoma State wide receiver Marcell Ateman with the 228th pick (seventh round) of the 2018 NFL Draft.
The Raiders already acquired Martavis Bryant from the Steelers to team up with Amari Cooper and Jordy Nelson, but Marcell Ateman could be an absolute steal in the seventh round. We have compared him to former first-round pick Michael Floyd, who was having a nice career before off-field issues derailed things, as Ateman has the ability to be physical and run clean routes for a six-foot-five target. Obviously, he would need an injury to see playing time in 2018, but Ateman is in a good spot with Jon Gruden in Oakland and could be a steal in dynasty leagues.
