The Cowboys are signing Michael Gallup to a five-year, $62.5-million deal, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Gallup is coming off a torn ACL, but Dallas wants to lock up the emerging wideout before free agency begins tomorrow and will now have him with the team for the next five seasons. The news comes on the heels of the franchise trading away Amari Cooper, but the Cowboys will clearly build the passing attack around CeeDee Lamb and Gallup. It wouldn't be a surprise if Cedrick Wilson Jr. is also brought back as the No. 3 wideout, though we'll see if they can afford to keep him; if not, a strong rookie class should allow Dallas to find a suitable complement for Lamb and Gallup. Assuming he is able to get healthy for the opener—which would be just over nine months removed from the torn ACL—Gallup should be an upside WR2/FLEX in 2022.
Michael Gallup is out for the season with a torn ACL.
This was the fear after Gallup left Week 17 earlier today and was very quickly ruled out due to a knee injury. At least Gallup appeared to be in good spirits while being taken to the locker room, but this is a very tough break for a player that is going to hit free agency this spring. Gallup's 2021 season ends with 35 receptions for 446 yards and two touchdowns in nine games. We wish Gallup the best of luck on his recovery.
Michael Gallup suffers apparent knee injury.
Gallup had a fantastic spinning back-shoulder touchdown catch against the Cardinals, but he was injured on the play, and it appears to be a knee issue. The big-play threat had to be helped to the sideline, but hopefully this isn't quite as serious as it looks like it might be, especially because he's set to become a free agent this offseason. We'll update you if anything changes, but expect him to be out for the rest of Week 17. Before leaving, Gallup had three receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown.
The Cowboys activated Michael Gallup (calf) from injured reserve.
Gallup is finally set to return after being out since opening night due to his calf injury. The big-play receiver will rejoin a Cowboys offense trying to get back on track for tomorrow's Week 10 matchup against the Falcons.
Michael Gallup (ankle) to miss multiple weeks.
When we saw Gallup leave last night’s game in good spirits on the sidelines, we didn’t think the ankle issue was too serious. But he’s already out for Week 2. Hopefully Gallup can avoid an IR stint, which would force him to miss at least three weeks.
Michael Gallup takes over in blowout win over the Redskins.
Gallup caught five-of-seven targets for 98 yards and three touchdowns—all of which came in the second half of a 47-16 victory. Two of the trips to the end zone came on catch-and-runs, but the most impressive was a twirling grab in the corner as he got his feet down in traffic. The dominant performance for Dallas made their 2019 season all the more frustrating because of all the talent they have on their roster, and it will be interesting to see who roams the sideline for them next year. Gallup should be a high-upside WR2 option in 2020 after a 66/1,107/6 line in 14 games this season.
Michael Gallup (knee) is officially active for the Cowboys.
Gallup made a nice recovery from his knee scope, and he’s back in the lineup for Dallas after missing just two games. The second-year receiver is in the FLEX mix for a potential shootout against the Packers.
Michael Gallup (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Week 5.
Gallup is expected to make his return after having meniscus surgery last month, but his status won't be official until an hour and a half before Dallas' 4:25 PM ET kickoff on Sunday. Overall, it might be best to keep Gallup on the bench for his first game back if he is active, but there's certainly upside for the second-year receiver in a potential shootout against the Packers.
Michael Gallup (knee) was officially limited in today's practice.
Gallup appears to be making excellent progress as he returns from his knee scope, and it looks like he has a decent chance to face the Packers this Sunday. Check back in tomorrow for Gallup's Thursday practice status.
Michael Gallup is having arthroscopic knee surgery, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport says Gallup is getting his meniscus trimmed and there is "no structural damage besides the meniscus tear." The second-year receiver is expected to miss two-to-four weeks. As a member of a red-hot Dallas offense, Gallup is off to a great start to the season with 13 receptions for 226 yards through two games, so this injury is disappointing. But hopefully Gallup is back on the field soon, and he should be held in fantasy leagues he's owned in. This is a slight knock to Dak Prescott's fantasy value in the short term, but a locked-in Prescott should remain a QB1 option.
Michael Gallup leads the Cowboys in receiving in the Divisional Round.
Gallup caught six passes for 119 yards in the playoff loss to the Rams. The rookie receiver did not catch a pass in the first half, but he caught fire in the final 30 minutes, including on a third-quarter drive when he caught four passes for 80 yards. His highlight came on that third-quarter drive when he had a beautiful over-the-shoulder catch for 44 yards after he got free behind the defense during a Dak Prescott scramble (and because Marcus Peters ran out of his zone responsibility). It might be tough to deliver consistent fantasy value in a run-heavy offense, but Gallup certainly has some upside opposite Amari Cooper in Dallas' offense for 2019. He's already shown the ability to make plays down the field for Prescott and should have his quarterback's trust heading into the offseason.
Michael Gallup scores in the Wild Card Round
Gallup caught two passes for 18 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys' playoff win against the Seahawks. The score came on a fade route where he caught a dime from Dak Prescott in the end zone. As usual, Gallup received some deep shots throughout the game, and he'll continue as mostly a boundary receiver for the Divisional Round next week versus the Saints or Rams.
Michael Gallup catches three passes against the Giants.
Gallup gained 50 yards on his three receptions in the Cowboys' Week 17 victory. The rookie receiver's first regular season ends with 33 receptions for 507 yards and two touchdowns. Gallup has the ability to make big plays down the field in the postseason for Dallas.
Michael Gallup scores in Cowboys' Week 16 win.
Gallup caught three passes for 53 yards and a touchdown against the Bucs. He had a 31-yard reception on an absolute dime on a deep ball from Dak Prescott down the right sideline, and the score came on a fade where he did a good job of gaining separation for the catch. The impressive rookie receiver remains inconsistent in his usage, and Dak Prescott might be sitting in Week 17; overall, he's not a highly-recommended fantasy option to conclude the regular season.
Michael Gallup did not catch a pass in Week 15.
Gallup has some weekly boom potential as a big-play threat for the Cowboys, but he's difficult to trust in fantasy lineups. Next week against the Bucs might not be a bad spot to give him a shot, though.
Michael Gallup catches four passes against the Eagles.
Gallup gained 24 yards on his four Week 14 receptions. It could've been a big game for the rookie receiver, but Dak Prescott missed him when he got behind the defense on a deep ball. The rookie receiver remains more of a strong dynasty-league hold than a reliable redraft option.
Michael Gallup caught five passes for 76 yards in Thursday night's win over the Saints.
Gallup was able to beat Eli Apple for a 40-yard gain on the game's opening possession, and he ended up leading the team in receiving with some nice plays throughout the upset victory. And while the rookie narrowly missed a deep touchdown on a double-move that he might not have been running full speed on, it was still a productive night. Gallup isn't a recommended fantasy option behind Amari Cooper, but he will look to make some plays against Philly's banged-up secondary next week.
Michael Gallup caught two passes for 19 yards in Thursday’s win over Washington.
Gallup also had an opportunity on a deep ball in the second half, but it was slightly underthrown by Dak Prescott. The rookie gets a good matchup next week against the Saints, but he won’t be a recommended fantasy option.
Michael Gallup catches one pass in Cowboys' win.
Gallup gained ten yards on his lone reception versus Atlanta. The rookie receiver was targeted on a couple of deep balls but couldn't connect with Dak Prescott. He'll look to have a bigger game against a Redskins team he had a 3/81/1 line against earlier this season.
Michael Gallup caught two passes for 34 yards in Sunday night's win over Philadelphia.
Gallup saw three targets and was one-of-five Cowboys to go for 34+ yards in a crucial victory. The third-round rookie isn't a recommended fantasy option for next week's matchup in Atlanta, but he should be a big-play threat the rest of the way for Dallas.
Michael Gallup caught three passes for 51 yards in Monday night's loss to the Titans.
Gallup was second on the team with six targets, as he operated as the clear starter alongside Amari Cooper and Cole Beasley. The rookie isn't a recommended fantasy option in redraft leagues, but he certainly has the speed to give Philadelphia's secondary issues in Week 10.
Michael Gallup catches first career touchdown in Week 7.
The rookie receiver used a nice double move to get wide-open deep down the field for a 49-yard touchdown from Dak Prescott. Overall, Gallup had three receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown in the loss to the Redskins. The third-rounder will look to have a more significant role on offense coming out of the Week 8 bye, but he's difficult to trust in Week 9 fantasy lineups against the Titans. He's worth a look as a pickup in deeper leagues.
Michael Gallup catches one pass against the Jaguars.
The rookie receiver made a nice contested catch for 27 yards down the left sideline on Jaguars cornerback A.J. Bouye. Gallup nearly had a touchdown on a great leaping catch at the front pylon, but he only foot inbounds. The good news is you can see Gallup's comfort on contested catches down the field, and he should continue to develop as a strong weapon for Dak Prescott and the Cowboys.
Michael Gallup catches one pass in loss to the Texans.
It went for six yards. The third-round pick has caught a pass in every game to start his career, but it's led to just six receptions for 82 yards. He doesn't need to be owned in redraft leagues heading into a matchup with the Jaguars.
Michael Gallup catches two passes in Week 4.
Gallup gained 45 yards on his two receptions, including a long reception of 37 yards on a deep ball. The rookie receiver is more of a dynasty-league option for now, but his emergence as a reliable deep threat will help Dak Prescott and the Cowboys.
Michael Gallup catches one pass in Week 3.
Gallup gained 17 yards on his lone reception, but he also had a pass intended for him that was deflected and intercepted by the Seahawks. It wasn't an easy catch in tight coverage for the rookie, but it's one he should have made. None of Dallas' pass catchers are recommended fantasy options right now.
Michael Gallup catches one pass in Week 2.
Gallup's lone reception went for five yards. He also was targeted on a deep ball down the right sideline but couldn't come down with it. Gallup is more of a dynasty-league option for now.
Michael Gallup catches one pass in NFL debut.
It went for nine yards. Gallup was targeted three other times in the game, and all three resulted in first downs due to defensive penalties committed by the Panthers. Dallas' third-round pick doesn't need to be owned in 10-team leagues, but if someone eventually emerges this year in the receiving corps, it will probably be him. The Cowboys take on the Giants next Sunday night.
The Cowboys have selected Colorado State wide receiver Michael Gallup with the No. 81 pick (third round) in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Dallas came into the draft with a need at receiver after cutting Dez Bryant earlier this month, and Gallup will have an opportunity to immediately carve out a big role on the outside as a rookie. Gallup was very productive during his only two seasons at Colorado State, putting up 76/1,272/14 and 100/1,418/7 lines as a junior and senior. While he isn't a huge receiver at about 6'1", Gallup plays bigger than his size and will compete on the outside. If Dak Prescott clicks with Gallup, it could lead to solid fantasy production as a rookie. Keep an eye on Gallup and the Cowboys receiving group throughout the summer.
