Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill is expected to undergo foot surgery.

Hill suffered a Lisfranc injury on Sunday after dealing with a foot issue for most of the season, and it will unfortunately lead to a chuck of offseason time missed as he recovers. New Orleans will be a team many connect quarterbacks to this offseason, but Hill is notably 7-2 as a starter over the past two seasons.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill is heading to the locker room.

Hill has his shoe off and appears to be dealing with a potentially serious foot injury, so we'd be surprised if he returned to the Week 18 matchup at Atlanta. Hill had been playing well and is giving the Saints a shot to make the postseason, so this is really unfortunate. Trevor Siemian is now in the game for the Saints.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

The Saints activated Taysom Hill from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Hill is back after unfortunately missing Week 16—which turned out to be very ugly for New Orleans—while on the COVID list. The dual threat quarterback will take on the Panthers defense this Sunday with the Saints looking to grab a wild-card spot in the NFC.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill is being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, according to multiple reports.

The Saints have a bit of an outbreak, which is not surprising considering just about every team is going through it at this point with the Omicron variant. Rookie quarterback Ian Book is now set to start for the Saints against the Dolphins on Monday night. It's a shame for Hill, who has put together a nice stretch and is looking to show he can be the long-term quarterback in New Orleans.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill is feared to have a torn tendon in his finger that may require surgery, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Hill didn't miss any snaps last night after the injury, but he was clearly not sharp throwing the ball and had a splint on his middle finger. The issue is said to be similar to what Russell Wilson had earlier this year, though it's clearly not as serious, and Hill was still effective from a fantasy perspective because of his rushing ability. The Saints fortunately have a few extra days before Week 14, and hopefully we get clarity on his status soon.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

The Saints are set to start Taysom Hill in Week 13.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Hill has been getting first-team reps in practice ahead of Thursday night against the Cowboys. This move is not surprising at all, as Hill is now healthier from his foot issue, and the Saints probably want to see what they have in him over the final several games—while also hoping to get a jumpstart on offense after slow starts over the past few weeks. Trevor Siemian will slide into the No. 2 quarterback role behind Hill.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

The Saints have signed Taysom Hill to a four-year extension, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The deal can be worth anywhere from $40 million to $95 million, and it includes $22.5 million guaranteed, so it's an unprecedented structure based on the position Hill plays for New Orleans—being their starting quarterback for the next four years would give him an extra $55 million on top of the $40 million base. Curiously, Hill didn't even play an offensive snap in yesterday's loss to the Eagles, but he is clearly a huge part of their plans on offense, and we would expect he might be starting by Week 13 if the Saints lose to the Bills on Thanksgiving. The versatile weapon should be stashed in redraft leagues because of his QB1 upside down the stretch if he eventually makes starts.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill (foot) is officially active for the Saints.

Hill has been banged up this season, but he’s active as a versatile piece on offense today against the Eagles.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill (foot) is questionable for Week 11.

Hill would be set to have an increased role if active with Alvin Kamara (knee) out, but he won't be a recommended fantasy play unless he eventually takes over for Trevor Siemian at quarterback. The Saints are banged up right now heading into a stretch of three games in 12 days.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill has been ruled out for Monday night.

Hill remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol following the bye week. Hopefully the dynamic quarterback is feeling better and back to his normal self soon.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill (concussion) ruled out for Week 7.

It’s obviously a concern that Hill has been unable to get cleared from his concussion despite a bye week, but hopefully he’s feeling better soon. This news provides a boost to the ceiling and floor for Jameis Winston on Monday night.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill is out for the rest of today's game.

Hill took a big hit while laying out for a deep pass, and he was carted to the locker room in the first half. He's now officially in concussion protocol. Hopefully the versatile quarterback is feeling better soon.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

The Saints have restructured Taysom Hill’s contract, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

It’s apparently a four-year, $140-million extension, but all years are voidable—so the deal is really just to create cap space this season. Hill will in actuality get about $12 million guaranteed this year with a chance to increase that via incentives. The retirement of Drew Brees obviously makes Hill a candidate to start at quarterback in the fall, though we’ll see if the team re-signs Jameis Winston or makes another move.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill (knee) is officially out for the Divisional Round.

Hill was able to battle through the knee injury last week, but it’ll keep him out today versus the Bucs. With Latavius Murray (quad) also out for New Orleans, Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas will likely get a ton of looks in Sean Payton’s offense.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill has been given starter reps in practice, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

[UPDATE: Hill will be starting at quarterback for New Orleans, according tom multiple reports.] Rapoport says "signs are pointing towards" the multi-purpose weapon getting the start over Jameis Winston this week, which obviously changes a lot for the New Orleans offense. If Hill does indeed start, he would be a no-doubt QB1 play because of the rushing upside, and this could be an audition for the starting job in 2021 (assuming Drew Brees retires). Hopefully we get a definite answer by Sunday morning.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

The Saints are signing Taysom Hill to an extension, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Schefter says it will basically be a one-year extension on the restricted free agent tender New Orleans gave Hill last month, but the bottom line is that he is now under contract with the team through the 2021 season. With former No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston also joining the quarterback room this season, it will be very interesting to see what Sean Payton's plan is for the position when Drew Brees retires.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

The Saints are placing the first-round tender on Taysom Hill, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Saints head coach Sean Payton has talked up Hill quite a bit in the past couple of years, and he and the team are backing up that talk with the first-round tender. If another team signs Hill and New Orleans does not match the offer, they would get a first-round pick in return. The bottom line is that Hill isn't likely to go anywhere this offseason, and the Saints sound set to use him on offense more frequently in 2020.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill scores in Saints' NFC title game loss.

Hill was 0/1 as a passer with one carry for no yards and one reception for two yards and a touchdown in the Saints' season-ending loss. The score was on a quick screen at the goal line where the athletic quarterback lined up as a traditional wide receiver. Hill was heavily-involved in New Orleans' offense this season, and he might see his role get even bigger next season. Fantasy wise, he's just a dynasty-league option heading into the offseason, though.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill gets two carries in Saints' playoff win.

Hill gained eight yards on his two attempts against the Eagles, including a key conversion on a fake punt he took up the middle. The play sparked the Saints, who weren't getting much going and were down 14-0 in their eventual 20-14 victory to advance to the NFC Championship Game. Hill also narrowly missed on catching a deep touchdown, as he used his great speed to get behind the defense but Drew Brees underthrew him. Right after the just-miss, Hill launched a perfect deep ball to Alvin Kamara for what looked like a touchdown, but it was called back because of a holding call. Hill will look to make a big impact as a Swiss army knife in the NFC title game against the Rams next weekend.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill scores in Week 17 loss.

Hill rushed three times for 11 yards and a touchdown, also adding a three-yard reception. There was thought that he would split time with Teddy Bridgewater at quarterback, but Hill didn't attempt a pass. It will be fun to see what the Saints have in store for the BYU product in a couple weeks.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill throws one interception in Week 16.

Hill had one pass attempt against the Steelers, bombing a deep ball to the end zone for Ted Ginn Jr., but it was intercepted in double coverage. Hill showed off the big arm and has a lot of ability, but he doesn't get enough work to be a highly-recommended fantasy option. However, perhaps he'll draw the start and play a lot in Week 17 with the NFC's No. 1 seed locked up for New Orleans.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill gets one carry in Saints' win.

Hill took his lone rushing attempt 17 yards, and he again worked as a Swiss Army knife that worked as a decoy, lead blocker, and contributor on special teams. Hill is a much better real-life asset for New Orleans than he is a fantasy asset for now.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill gets one carry in Week 14.

Hill had -6 yards on his lone attempt against the Buccaneers. The versatile quarterback is not a recommended fantasy option right now.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill rushed twice for 13 yards in Thursday night's win over the Falcons.

Hill continues to be a great chess piece for Sean Payton's offense, but he obviously doesn't get enough touches to warrant fantasy consideration at the quarterback position. The do-it-all backup will look to make an impact next Thursday against Dallas.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill throws two passes in Week 11.

Hill was 1/2 for ten yards and added three carries for four yards. One throw to the end zone was not very close to the mark, and the Eagles did a nice job of limiting Hill as a runner, but he continues to get action as a versatile weapon for the Saints. Hill will look to do some damage on Thanksgiving night against the Falcons.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill gets four carries in Week 10.

Hill gained 24 yards on his four carries, and he nearly took one attempt into the end zone but was stopped short of the goal line. Hill also threw one pass, but it was incomplete. The versatile quarterback is just a dynasty-league fantasy option for now.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill gets two carries against the Rams.

Hill gained ten yards on his two attempts in the Saints' Week 9 win. He was also targeted on a pass from Drew Brees and might have picked up some nice yardage, but he dropped it after appearing to look up before securing the catch. Hill is a real weapon for the Saints in real life, but he's difficult to trust in fantasy lineups.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill connects on 44-yard pass as New Orleans improves to 6-1.

Hill also rushed three times for negative-one yard, but the highlight was a deep throw over the middle to Michael Thomas in the first half. It actually looked to hit the ground, but wasn't overturned or reviewed because there was defensive pass interference anyway. It will be fun to see what kind of tricks New Orleans has next week against the 8-0 Rams.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill handles six carries in win over the Ravens.

Hill rushed six times for 35 yards, also losing a fumble on a pitch to Alvin Kamara that ended a 20-play drive on the game's opening possession. He's not a fantasy option, but Hill has been a valuable piece for Sean Payton, and he will look to be a significant factor in next Sunday night's matchup with the Vikings.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill scores first career touchdown in Saints' win.

Hill again received a good amount of work at quarterback on zone-reads and designed quarterback runs, and he carried five times for 23 yards and a touchdown in the Monday night win against the Redskins. The score was on a designed quarterback sweep that Hill took to the corner for six. Congrats to Hill on his first NFL touchdown, and it could be the first of many for the athletic former BYU star. He's not a starting fantasy option in standard-sized fantasy leagues, though.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill gets extended playing time in Saints' win.

Hill was used several times as a second quarterback for the Saints, with Drew Brees split out while Hill took a direct snap. Hill as 1/2 for ten yards and added four carries for 28 yards. The use of Hill on zone reads and occasional passes could be something we see more of moving forward, and he's also still being used on kick returns and special teams, but he's obviously not a fantasy option right now. Hill has been an asset for the Saints in real life, though.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill gets involved offensively as the Saints win a shootout over the Falcons.

Hill rushed three times for 39 yards, including a 35-yard run on which he nearly outran the entire defense to find the end zone. The versatile backup quarterback also returned three kicks and played his usual role on special teams. Hill isn't on the fantasy radar, but Sean Payton pulled out all the stops in a 43-37 overtime victory, and the BYU product has proven to be a very valuable member of the roster.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Quarterback Taysom Hill leads the Packers in rushing on Saturday night.

Hill was 6/11 for 49 yards passing, but rushed six times for 38 yards, including a 23-yard score in the fourth quarter. The 26-year-old rookie should find his way onto a practice squad in 2017.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

Taysom Hill throws touchdown in preseason opener.

The rookie quarterback from BYU was the third quarterback to enter for Green Bay, behind Brett Hundley and Joe Callahan, but he played well. Hill was 4/5 for 69 yards and a touchdown, along with two carries for 14 yards. He's a talented player and is someone Green Bay will likely want to try and get through to the practice squad.

Taysom Hill | Saints QB

The Packers signed talented BYU quarterback Taysom Hill as an undrafted free agent.

Hill is a talented 26-year-old quarterback that battled injuries at BYU. He started as a sophomore (and rushed for 1,344 yards and ten touchdowns), then suffered season ending injuries as a junior and senior, but got a medical redshirt to play last season, when he threw for 2,323 yards and 12 touchdowns with 11 interceptions. He also added 600 yards and eight touchdowns rushing in his final season. Hill's playing style may put him in harms way too often, but he is a talented player with sub-4.5 speed that the Packers will try to mold and hone as a developmental prospect.
