The story has been around for several years now, but it’s always worth revisiting because of how awesome it is. And because both players are playing tonight, and some of you may not have heard it before.
Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford and Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw went to the same high school. Two golden arms—truly two of the greatest arms in the histories of their respective sports—from the same school. It’s mind blowing.
Could you imagine a 6’3” dude and a 6’4” dude coming off the bus to face your high school team?
It’s been over a decade since the two of them graduated from Texas’ Highland Park High School in 2006, but things have become even more impressive since then. Having two athletes from the same school in the same class is impressive enough. But they’re now the two highest paid players in their respective sports.
That’s right, Matthew Stafford is currently the highest-paid player in the NFL, while Clayton Kershaw is the highest-paid player in the MLB. There are a good amount of rarities and uncommon occurrences in this world, but that? That will never happen again.
yeah they’re both beasts from the same hs it’s nuts
That’s nuts thinking about it like that. Two highest paid in two best sports. Wow.
Imagine those high school reunions rofl
