The Rise of Skywalker Arrives In Star Wars: Battlefront II, With Brand-New Trailer

Star Wars: Battlefront II got off to a rocky start with a ton of fan criticism since its release over two years ago. EA has attempted to improve the game and build goodwill for one of the most disappointing video games in recent memory, and the launch of The Rise of Skywalker content looks like the most positive development the game has had.

The Rise of Skywalker update in Battlefront II is a free update, and it includes a new location, new reinforcements, and new Hero Appearances.

The new location is a jungle planet (available December 20) that will be seen in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker film, and you can play as either the Resistance or First Order in Co-Op—and it will be available for the Heroes vs. Villains game mode, too. Also, other locations Takodana, Jakku, and Starkiller Base will also become available for Co-Op.

As displayed in the trailer, the red armored troops were the Infiltrator class Sith trooper of the First Order soldiers. There is also a First Order Jet Trooper class, along with “Gunner” and “Spy” units for the Resistance side.

Finally, new Hero Appearances (i.e. the look of the characters) for Finn, Rey, and Kylo Ren inspired by the upcoming saga conclusion will be available to purchase with in-game Credits or Crystals as part of The Rise of Skywalker update.

The early response to the awesome cinematic-style trailer and The Rise of Skywalker update has been very positive among fans, which is a continuation of Battlefront II’s turnaround since its highly criticized release in 2017—especially with the next game not expected until at least 2021.
