There Is A Career/Story Mode In Madden 18

At EA Play, it was just revealed that Madden 18 will have a story mode. The new game mode was announced with a trailer:

Powered by Frostbite, Longshot is Madden NFL’s first-ever cinematic and playable story mode where your decisions lead forgotten prospect, Devin Wade on the pursuit to hear his name called on NFL Draft day.

 

There is also an official page dedicated to the new story mode, which gives more information including that Devin Wade is from the small town of Mathis, Texas. Something cool about the mode is that Dan Marino (as seen in the trailer) is a mentor to Wade. Also, it appears the Texas Longhorns and Oregon Ducks uniforms are in the trailer, but it’s unclear if those are just cut scenes or if you actually get to play for Texas.

 

While some will be disappointed you are stuck playing with a pre-set character at quarterback, EA is clearly putting the Frostbite engine to use. This is the first time Madden has the Frostbite running the game, so perhaps in future years they will allow people to create their own character instead of everyone using the same player.

 

Madden 18 is available for pre-order and will be released on August 25 (pre-ordering the G.O.A.T. Edition gets you the game three days early, on August 22).
