Join now >Aaron Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19 and is out for Week 9, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Rodgers will miss the highly-anticipated showdown with Patrick Mahomes, and it will be the most high-profile COVID-19 issue of the year—bringing about more frustration regarding the whole ordeal. The news sets up 2020 first-round Jordan Love to make his first NFL start, and he can be a quality streaming option with the firepower on Green Bay’s offense (assuming Davante Adams gets cleared). Because he is reportedly unvaccinated, fantasy owners could also be without Rodgers in Week 10.

Michael Thomas (ankle) is out for the season.
It was reported earlier this morning that another ankle issue popped up for Thomas and his return date was uncertain, and shortly after, Thomas is now announcing that he is out for the season in a social media post. In the post, Thomas says that he and the team have “worked diligently, day and night to rehab and get me back on the field” but that there has unfortunately been another “small set back”. Thomas adds that he will do everything in his power to get back to the player he has been. The two-time All-Pro was able to play a little bit in 2020, but he’s essentially had the past two years wiped out due to the ankle issues. Thomas will turn 29 this offseason and remains under contract with the Saints.

Michael Thomas dealing with another ankle injury.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports on GMFB that Thomas now has another ankle issue that necessitated a visit to a specialist to try and figure out the issue and when he can get back on the field. It’s been a major ordeal for Thomas for each of the past two seasons, and he’s unfortunately been able to get right since suffering that initial ankle injury to begin last year. Rapoport says the return date for Thomas is “unpredictable”. The star receiver remains on the PUP list and can be considered week-to-week.

The Raiders have released Henry Ruggs III.
Ruggs was charged with felony DUI for tragically killing someone while driving under the influence, and the Raiders have all the information needed to release the 2020 first-round pick. On the field, the team will move forward with Bryan Edwards as their No. 1 wide receiver.

The Bucs opened the practice window for Scotty Miller (toe).
Miller now has 21 days during which he can practice before he must either be activated or spend the rest of the season on injured reserve. The Bucs are currently on a bye week, so it looks like there’s a realistic chance Miller can return for Week 10 versus Washington.

The Raiders waived Nathan Peterman.
Peterman was somewhat of a project for former head coach Jon Gruden, and the Raiders are now moving in another direction for now. Marcus Mariota is also probably healthier for Vegas coming off the bye.

The Broncos placed Noah Fant on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Fant is now working against the clock to get cleared for Sunday against the Cowboys. Hopefully he’s feeling OK and can rejoin his teammates soon.
