Join now >The Titans are signing Adrian Peterson.
Peterson is signing to the practice squad, but he’ll eventually be added to the active roster—possibly as the lead back for Tennessee’s offense. A move was fully expected, and at least fantasy owners now should know not to blow their budget on Jeremy McNichols this week. Look for the Titans to go with a committee the rest of the way, and AD should be rostered in all leagues.

Derrick Henry will have foot surgery tomorrow morning.
The MRI apparently confirmed the Jones fracture for the star running back. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports it’s about an eight-week recovery for Henry, so he could be back for the playoffs assuming the 6-2 Titans make it. You obviously hate to see this for the back-to-back rushing champion, and it’s basically a freak type of injury to break a bone in your foot. We’ll see if Henry can somehow come back very late this regular season, but if he doesn’t, his season ends with 219 carries for 937 rushing yards and ten rushing touchdowns along with 18 receptions for 154 yards in eight games. Henry was well on his way to a second consecutive 2,000-yard rushing season and a third consecutive league-lead in rushing, and it’s a big loss for the Titans and for the sport not to have him on the field for at least the second half of the regular season and potentially into January for the postseason.

T.Y. Hilton (concussion) is out for Week 9.
Hilton won’t clear the concussion protocol by Thursday night, so he’s been ruled out already. The Colts will continue leaning on Michael Pittman Jr. when they throw, but their best shot at a turnaround would likely be to give more carries to Jonathan Taylor.

James Robinson (foot) is considered day-to-day, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Robinson’s status is in doubt for Week 9 versus the Bills, but he escaped serious injury, so fantasy owners can breath a sigh of relief. While it will be a difficult matchup, Carlos Hyde is worth considering as a pickup for running back-needy teams in the event that Robinson doesn’t play next weekend.

Derrick Henry suffered a potential season-ending foot injury on Sunday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Henry will undergo an MRI to determine the exact extent of the injury, but this report will likely just be confirmed, and he will be done for the season. It’s obviously a terrible break for Tennessee and fantasy owners to have one of the most durable backs in football go down, and Henry was on an historic pace this season. Including a quiet outing yesterday at less than 100%, Henry rushed 219 times for 937 yards and ten touchdowns in eight games in 2021, and he was also more involved as a pass-catcher with 18 receptions (on 20 targets) for 154 yards. The Titans will now turn to Jeremy McNichols as their lead back, but they’ll certainly shift to more of a pass-heavy offense with Julio Jones (hamstring) hopefully getting healthy to join A.J. Brown as a dominant duo at wide receiver. We would imagine Tennessee looks into free agency or the trade market considering all the options available.

Jameis Winston is dealing with an ACL injury.
The Saints described Winston’s knee injury as “significant”, and now multiple reports say it’s an ACL injury, with NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport saying that there’s also additional damage to the MCL. Obviously, this is a terrible break for Winston today while facing his former team—we’ll let you know if anything changes, but it appears to be a torn ACL that will end his season. Winston’s season ends with 1,170 passing yards, 14 passing touchdowns, and three interceptions in seven games. We wish him the best of luck with his recovery. Taysom Hill (concussion) is reportedly ready to return soon, and we’ll see if he takes over full-time as the starter for the rest of this season or if Trevor Siemian gets some time (or if they opt to add another veteran to the mix).

James Robinson (ankle) did not return for the Jaguars.
Before leaving, Robinson had four carries for 22 yards and one reception for 17 yards early against the Seahawks. Carlos Hyde handled the backfield work when Robinson left. Hopefully the second-year running back doesn’t miss any more time after today, but we’ll see what the word is on his status.
