Ryan Tannehill | Free Agent QB

Ryan Tannehill (shoulder) won’t play in Week 10, head coach Adam Gase has announced.

It will be another start for Brock Osweiler as Miami looks to upset Green Bay and improve to 6-4, but hopefully Tannehill is back after the Week 11 bye. The injury has seemed to be a bit of a mystery based on Gase’s comments, so we’ll see what happens over the next couple weeks. Osweiler isn’t a recommended fantasy option.

Sam Darnold | Seahawks QB

Sam Darnold has a “significant foot sprain” according to Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News.

This explains the protective boot the rookie quarterback is wearing. Mehta says Darnold is out this week against the Bills, which obviously isn’t a surprise. This means veteran Josh McCown will be under-center for the Jets on Sunday, which probably knocks down the Bills D/ST down at least slightly. The foot injury could explain Darnold having the worst game of his NFL career to this point last week, and it is less than ideal that he’s going to miss some time as he looks to progress throughout his rookie season. This is also bad news for Peyton Manning, who has been hoping a rookie will break his rookie interception record of 28. Darnold currently has 14 through nine games.

Sam Darnold | Seahawks QB

Sam Darnold is wearing a protective boot on his right foot.

The rookie quarterback obviously isn’t practicing today, and his status for Sunday against the Bills looks to be in jeopardy. We’ll track Darnold’s status throughout the week, but the very capable Josh McCown would take over as the Jets’ starter if Darnold can’t play.

Sammy Watkins | Free Agent WR

Sammy Watkins (foot) is not practicing today.

This isn’t a surprise, and the Chiefs are likely to take things slow with their high-priced receiver—especially with a game that, frankly, they shouldn’t have much trouble winning this week. Still, we’ll see if Watkins is able to practice tomorrow or Friday. Consider him on the doubtful side of things for now, though.

Dez Bryant | Free Agent WR

The Saints are signing Dez Bryant, according to NFL Network.

After getting released by the Cowboys during the offseason and being without a team all summer and the first nine weeks of this season, the Pro Bowl wide receiver now has a team—and it’s a good spot in New Orleans with the Saints. Apparently, the Saints don’t have any concerns about Bryant ruining chemistry on a 7-1 team. It’s unlikely to happen immediately but Bryant has the potential to eventually work his way into the No. 2 receiver role behind Michael Thomas, which could lead to some fantasy value down the stretch. It’s not highly recommended, but he’s worth a look as a pick up if you need some wide receiver help.

Duke Johnson Jr. | Free Agent RB

The Browns hope to get Duke Johnson more involved moving forward.

In Gregg Williams’ first game as the team’s interim head coach and Freddie Kitchen’s first game as the team’s new offensive coordinator, Johnson caught nine passes for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Williams said of Johnson’s performance: “I think he can do more and he will.” Browns GM John Dorsey signed Johnson to an extension this offseason, but he caught just 20 passes through the first eight games of the season, and it looks like this new coaching staff is going get the versatile running back more involved. If Johnson is available in your league, he appears worth a pickup, particularly in PPR scoring.

DeAndre Carter | Browns WR

The Eagles have waived wide receiver DeAndre Carter.

Carter has bounced on and off the active roster a couple times this season, but he might not be back now that Golden Tate is in Philadelphia. This could also mean that Darren Sproles will finally return this weekend and be used as the team’s primary punt returner. Carter has flashed enough talent that he should resurface.
