The Jaguars released Duke Johnson from the practice squad.

There was some hope that Johnson could emerge as a passing down back for Jacksonville, but the veteran runner will now become a free agent again. Johnson is off the fantasy radar in most leagues at the moment.

Jamison Crowder has been activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Crowder should make his season debut this weekend against the Patriots, but it will be interesting to see how the snaps are divided at wide receiver. We would guess rookie Elijah Moore might start alongside Corey Davis on the outside with Crowder in his usual slot role, and Denzel Mims is hoping for expanded snaps after impressing with a 40-yard reception in limited playing time last week.

The Ravens are signing Devonta Freeman to the active roster.

Freeman is heading to the 53-man roster with Le’Veon Bell notably still on the practice squad, and now Ty’Son Williams and Latavius Murray will have company in the backfield. We would expect Freeman to handle a few touches (perhaps similar to the role Trenton Cannon had), but he should settle in as the clear No. 3 option, and Bell should eventually be on the active roster as well.

Marcus Mariota (quad) is expected to miss multiple weeks.

You could see Mariota injured himself a bit at the end of his 31-yard zone-read run on Monday night against the Ravens, and unfortunately he’s set to miss more time with an aggravation of his quad issue. It looked like the Raiders were going to use Mariota more on zone-reads like the one that gashed Baltimore, so look for that again when the dual threat quarterback gets back to 100%.

The 49ers claimed Trenton Cannon.

Cannon was recently waived by the Ravens after playing for Baltimore on Monday night in Week 1. Cannon will help make up for the loss of Raheem Mostert, but his contributions might come on special teams more than offense. Ultimately, Cannon is a better real-life contributor to his teams than a fantasy asset.

Kelvin Benjamin has been suspended by the NFL for two games.

Benjamin is currently a free-agent after a controversial stint with the Giants this summer, and overall this suspension doesn’t have a big impact from a fantasy perspective.

Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) will not play in Week 2.

After the expectation had been that OBJ would be good to go for the season opener, it’s a bit concerning that he’s also now being ruled out for Week 2 so early in the week. Hopefully the Browns and Beckham are just taking things as slow as possible to ensure that he’s 100% before he’s put out onto the field.
