Join now >The Texans have waived wide receiver Chris Thompson.
Houston has a deep receiver group, so it was going to be tough for Thompson to crack it. This gives him a chance to sign with another team soon.

The Titans waived Deontay Burnett.
The former USC receiver went undrafted, but was doing well this summer. He’ll either land on the practice squad or sign with another team soon.

Alshon Jeffery (shoulder) is expected to miss the first two games of the regular season, according to ESPN.
Jeffery is still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery and apparently will not be ready for the season opener next Thursday night. There was thought that Jeffery would be ready to go for Week 1 despite missing the entire preseason, but that was probably an aggressive timeline. ESPN says Jeffery isn’t expected to be placed on the PUP, which would force him to miss the first six games of the season. Perhaps Jeffery will return earlier or later, but for now expect him to be back in Week 3 against the Colts.

The Titans cut Akrum Wadley.
As an undrafted rookie, the former Iowa running back had an uphill climb to make the Titans’ 53-man roster. Wadley did perform well throughout the summer, though, so he’ll either be claimed by another team or placed on the team’s practice squad.

Steve Wilks says “it’s going to be close” whether Jermaine Gresham (Achilles) starts the season on the PUP.
The veteran tight end remains on the PUP list because of his torn Achilles from last season’s final game, and he’d miss the first six weeks of the season if he remains on the PUP. Ricky Seals-Jones is very likely to start for the Cardinals in Week 1 either way, and Gresham is not a fantasy option at the moment.

The Titans waived Luke Falk.
The sixth-round rookie quarterback is a good bet for the practice squad if no other team claims him on waivers.

The Cardinals signed running back Darius Victor.
Victor spent some time on Arizona’s practice squad last season before being released in the offseason. His signing comes after the team placed D.J. Foster (knee) on injured reserve. Coming in so late in the summer, Victor is a long shot to make the 53-man roster, but he’ll likely have an opportunity to play in this Thursday’s preseason finale.
