Join now >The Chiefs have released running back Charcandrick West.
West has been a very good contributor for Kansas City the last three seasons, but he fell victim to the numbers game, as the Chiefs have one of the most-stacked running back groups in the NFL. The Chiefs releasing West now allows the 27-year-old to find a new team. He should receive interest as a versatile player that can contribute on special teams.

Rishard Matthews has been taken off the PUP list.
Matthews passed his physical and can now practice after missing the entire summer to this point. The exact injury Matthews was dealing with is unclear, but he’ll have a couple of weeks to get ready for the season opener. Taywan Taylor did not work as a starter in yesterday’s preseason game, so Matthews appears poised to be a top-two receiver along with Corey Davis.

Saquon Barkley (hamstring) is doing individual drills today.
Giants head coach Pat Shurmur told this to the gathered media at practice, as they were all probably holding their breath waiting to see what the No. 2 pick in the draft was going to do today. The good news is Barkley is progressing. It’d be nice to see him out there on Friday night, but Week 1 doesn’t seem like much of a concern. The bigger concern is what Eli Manning said recently about Barkley missing “valuable time,” but it sounds like he should be back to a full practice participant soon enough before September 9 against Jacksonville.

The Jets have released wide receiver Charles Johnson.
Johnson had a nice preseason with six receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown, but New York has a lot of bodies at wide receiver. The 29-year-old has struggled to make an impact since his 31/475/2 line with the Vikings in 2014, but he is a solid athlete with good size, so he might get another chance soon.

LeSean McCoy is dealing with a groin injury.
The injury is thought to be minor, but it’s especially worth noting for a player with 2,626 touches in his career. The Bills do not play their third preseason game until Sunday, and the team would probably like him to be out there because he’s a big part of their offense, so we’ll see how McCoy progresses throughout the week.

Corey Clement (lower body injury) returned to Eagles practice.
Like teammate Nelson Agholor, who was also dealing with an undisclosed lower body injury, Clement is back at practice and will be ready to go for Week 1 against the Falcons. The 2017 undrafted running back will be a key part of Philadelphia’s offense, and he should deliver at least some startable fantasy weeks in 2018.

A.J. McCarron (shoulder) is practicing on a limited basis.
With the important third preseason game coming up this Sunday, McCarron is trying to tough his his right shoulder injury and play in the game. If McCarron is unable to play, rookie Josh Allen might be able to seize the starting job with a solid performance versus the Bengals.
